I have a zone 1-5 oyster season ticket and need to get a boundary zone 5 to Staines with my network rail card.
Waterloo station will be very busy.
Can I seek out the guard before the train leaves Zone 5, and get him to sell me the ticket?
I can imagine the queues at Waterloo to be horrendous.
I often catch this service on different days of the week, and notice that when we get to the Chiltern depot area in Neasden the train decelerates rapidly, and crawls, and sometimes stops at Wembley stadium, but the doors don't open.
I cant work out why this would be as the previous train had...
I hold a zone 1-5 annual travelcard, which comes with a gold card.
Is my ticket valid on the HS1 to St Pancras, as this will save a lot of time on my journey westbound to Wembley from Newbury park.
I have an annual season ticket zone 1-5 with Chiltern and the gold card.
I also have a YP rail card.
My wife has booked tickets with VTEC, but if she gets a railcard it would pay for itself.
Which railcard could she get. I read that it would be £10 for her to get a railcard but not sure...
I have noticed a few season ticket holders join at ungated station and wait at the platform for about 20 seconds before the train arrives (talk about timing!)
They don't have time to tap in, but once they get to the terminus they tap out on their oyster.
Is this the same as having a paper...
I bought an annual travel card zone 1-5 from chiltern and want to travel on weekends on their network. I was told I did not need to buy a ticket but show them my card but it's on oyster.
I have a new job in Bermondsey and have the option of
1) Leaving from Northolt Park and take Chiltern line, Bakerloo to Baker street and then Jubilee to Bermondsey
2) Met / Chiltern line from Harrow on the Hill
3) Chiltern Line from Sudbury Hill Harrow
4) Central Line from Northolt...
I need to get from Kings cross mainline to Heathrow airport during peak hours.
I have oyster PAYG and YP railcard
The cheapest way but most congested way would be taking the picadilly line, but that would be nearly an hour and I would be standing for most part.
Heathrow express is too...
Just a quick question,
in the age of digital media and smart phones, why does east coast insist on paper print outs of the tickets.
I tried to see if the gates would open by scanning my QR code from my Samsung Galaxy and it worked.
Yes smartphones can die but paper tickets can be lost as...
As you head towards Kings cross there is a tunnel on the right, which I keep forgetting the name of with a pair of tracks.
I am guessing that this will connect St Pancras to the ECML.
Will this be a flat junction or will the southbound dive under the current track bed to merge in.
On...
I arrived at Peterborough at 9.30pm yesterday.
I went to the fast-ticket machine at the side and an error came up with unable to complete transaction. I decided to video the situation.
Time was ticking on so went to the next one.
Same thing.
The travel centre was closed, I had attempted...
I have noticed that the S stock despite increase in line speed has really poor acceleration. The 96 stock on the jubilee line and even central line stock has better acceleration.
Coupled with LU mantra of all stations at all times makes for very long journeys.
Why did they not think of...
Watchdog did a piece the other day on Wifi on Virgin, East Coast, and cross country.
I was surprised that the results were so poor. I have never had the need to use wifi as I have unlimited data but found that on the ECML bar the tunnels and the odd patches I get a 3g connection which on 02...
Can someone please explain why new trains have been ordered for the TLGN route when 365 are capable of 3rd rail operation, but have had their shoes removed.
Would it not have been cheaper?
FCC are refreshing their class 365s so I guess they plan to use them for a lot longer.
Can you use Oyster PAYG on a Virgin service from Euston to Watford Junction, rather than London Overground or London Midland?
Also what about on Anglia trains that are from Liverpool street to Norwich which stop at stratford?
Ticket checks would be done by the train guard, what would they say?
Travelling on a Northern service, RPIs boarded and there was a lady sitting diagonally opposite who claimed to have a ticket.
The RPI asked her for a ticket and she rummaged in her bag, saying that she had bought one.
The RPI told her he would come back and checked the rest of the carriage...
This is a technicality but if East Coast are like ryan air then that is very sad.
My mistake I didnt change one of the names on the print @ home.
Does the wrong name invalidate the ticket even if we are on the correct train at the correct time?
I have never heard a guard announcement say this...
My photocard is fading, the ink on it looks blotchy and no one has said anything but reading threats from revenue staff it would be better to get it replaced.
I have always kept it in my walled and away from sunlight but don't understand how it can fade when there is a plastic covering.
How do...
We are a party of 8, travelling from London to Newcastle on the 9th May, however one person will be joining enroute at Peterborough and they have a YP railcard. They want to leave London at 4-5 pm ish.
The return will be on Sunday 11th May, leaving newcastle at noon, with one person having YP...
Correct me if I am wrong but was it true that on some Sundays GNER used to start from Finsbury Park instead of Kings cross?
Did GNER ever stop on the southbound journey at Finsbury Park and then on to KGX?
