Crossrail fares live on Oyster already bringing savings to some

Fares for Crossrail are already live despite the delay on oyster and contactless. It almost halves the cost of Abbey Wood to Stratford for example. The discrepancy with Southeastern metro grows ever wider...

Southeastern train passengers stuck for 3 hours as train fails yards from Victoria

Not sure SE processes have got much better since earlier this year when similar happened at Lewisham. Today it looks like power went off, toilets not working, intercom stopped too. A report criticised the company for similar issue which saw passengers leaving the train earlier this year...

Lewisham station to have one-way entry and exit system from Monday

I assume the ever increasing passenger numbers due to all the tower blocks have led to this. Will it cause more trouble than it helps solve? http://www.fromthemurkydepths.co.uk/2018/10/19/lewisham-station-to-see-new-one-way-entry-system-from-monday/

Southeastern say NR engineering train on fire

SE have just tweeted that a fire has broken out on a NR train between Hildenborough and Tonbridge. https://twitter.com/Se_Railway/status/1052676758229651457 Kent Fire services on scene. Won't do much to help at the beginning of leaf fall season. How many spare do NR have?

My Idea for: 313s to Southeastern?

With the 313s going off-lease from Great Northern in coming months are they able to operate on Southeastern routes - perhaps 3 cars on branches? Purely hypothetical I know and unlikely being a micro fleet but just wondering. Even a few more Networker carriages going spare to lengthen Metro...

Lewisham Road station to be demolished

The station closed 101 years ago and was on the line to Greenwich Park. Part of which was then used to create the existing line from Lewisham to Victoria. Flats look likely to replace the station building which in recent years has been a junk shop...

Incident on Greenwich line: reports of train moving with doors open

At about 8am today a Southeastern train stopped at Maze Hill and the doors didn't work properly with only some opening. Then with some open the train set off. The line has seen some delays since and the driver seemed in a spot of bother.

    Worst maintained train interior?

I read this article earlier which highlights the very grotty state of Networkers at Southeastern, even post "refurb" which has apparently done little beyond a disabled toilet and new door buttons. http://www.fromthemurkydepths.co.uk/2017/12/27/the-continuing-decline-of-southeastern-trains/ The...

Networker refurb - not great is it?

Having seen the current refurbishment do little for the tatty Southeastern Networkers I saw this which nicely rounds up the flaws that remain (with pics) http://www.fromthemurkydepths.co.uk/2017/10/10/southeastern-trains-are-being-refurbished-no-really/ I guess its not worth doing much if they...

No Southeastern Metro timetable improvements from Thameslink work?

I thought all the rebuilding work at London Bridge and reopening of all platforms in January (actually giving a net increase in SE platforms and tracks) was supposed to improve services? The draft 2018 timetable shows a far worse service than before work begun. Slower journeys and service...

Proposed large new Slade Green rail freight interchange

I saw this site campaigning against it. https://friendsofcrayfordmarshes.wordpress.com/2016/11/18/save-crayford-marshes/ And then looked up the plans. Seems a very big site is planned. Can that area take more freight though? Not many paths is there? Also, looking at the photo if this is built...

    Dutch trains special offers

I know it's very hard to find details of specials on Dutch railways but I did recently find a site that updated offers - often local only available in ticket offices. Quite obscure but very useful. Does anyone know of latest offers or where to find them?

Trabnsport Focus's passenger satisfaction : spring 2016 figures out

Southern and Southeastern bring up the rear at 69%. Thameslink were at 74%. Seems bizarre its not lower. http://www.transportfocus.org.uk/research-publications/rail-research/infographic-nrps-spring-2016/ London Bridge is certainly the main factor but it goes beyond the building work itself to...

    Changes to DLR interior

I was wondering if all the DLR stock will see seating changes to longitudinal in the middle of carriages? And how many have been altered so far?

New building at Woolwich Dockyard - new station building?

Over the past year a new building has appeared by the down line at Woolwich Dockyard in the car park by the platform. It can just be made out here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/unravelled/26151725176/in/datetaken/ What is it? Is it a new station building? I doubt it is as it's a lightly used...

    Southeastern attack Network Rail

SE have come out today and been a lot more forthright on criticising NR. An interesting development, and we'll see how it goes. What's the record with TOCs breaking ranks and criticsing NR and the govt? One would expect it wouldn't be in their favour but I vaguely recall some doing it before...

    Class 376 future at Southeastern

These 5 car trains are 10 years old and were a cheap solution for more capacity at the time instead of completing upgrades needed for 12 car running. Since then, money has been spent on Southeastern metro routes to make it mostly 12 car capable, and would it not make sense for SE to now get...

Southeastern services serving Blackfriars after 2018

Things with Thameslink works seem to change quite quickly, and I was wondering what's the latest plans of how many SE services will serve the Blackfriars bays (so terminating trains) in the peaks from 2018, what increase that'll be from now and what services they'll be? As it's looking like...

    Ebbsfleet station - terrible accesibility

I've known for a long time that the connection between Southeastern's Northfleet station and Ebbsfleet international is pretty awful. They are very close as the crow flies, but there's no quick path between them. Well, in places no path at all - you have to walk on grass or the road on a long...
