    TPE franchise awarded to First

The Middlesbrough timings are changing from October to December for leaf fall. Only Middlesbrough to York/Manchester direction midday services Monday To Fridays are changing time. Saturdays & Northbound Middlesbrough services still normal. Well that's what I was told by the powers that be. :)

The new Northern franchise - what we know

A feasibility study has to be done surrounding the Middlesbrough-Newcastle services by June 2017. This will look into whether the service can run via Stillington branch and the effects it could possible have for other TOCS when joining the main line at Ferryhill. If it can't it needs to set out...

    Northern Duo's

I'll be honest in how I found out. I stumbled across a complaint on the Northern facebook page about the removal of duos from Bishop Auckland. After seeing this I flew across the office to find if this was true from journey planner. It was a major surprise to find them been removed as we...

    Print at home query

Would love to know where this £5 charge for printing at stations has come from. How to I create a £5 fare? I will just print them at the tickets office is some one has had problems printing their ticket just need 15 minutes to do it that's all.

    Northern Duo's

Not sure I get what you mean sorry. When customers buy the Duo they split the fare between them. So at the minute a Duo to Saltburn, £9.10, is £4.55 each but will go up to £5.10 each. With the introduction of off peak singles and returns (valid after 0859 M-F) it will reduce fares for a...

    Northern Duo's

Sorry guys but Northern are removing the popular Northern duo ticket on most flows in Teesside from 5th September. They are been replaced by off peak day return flows. Example: 2 returns Eaglescliffe to Saltburn £9.10 From 5th Septmeber £10.20

Virgin Trains East Coast price rise and changes to off peak from September 4th

Have you tried splitting your ticket at Retford on the 0731 from Darlington to Kings Cross? Even for tomorrow morning it saves 70 pound. Always a good split when customers ask for advance tickets on the 0701 from Eaglescliffe to Kings Cross

    1st Class & Oyster

Cheers guys. Just wondered after colleague asked at work and totally did not know the answer.

    Class 142 v Class 156

Cheers. We are lead to believe we are getting 156's because units with middle doors (150's) cant operate up the coast due to Hartlepools curved platform. Hopefully if Northern can get the Northern Connect to work via Stillington Branch we will see the class 158's. They have to complete a...

    Class 142 v Class 156

Does anybody know how many seats are on a Class 142 and how many are on a standard class 156? Asking to work out how many extra seats people of Teesside will actually get when they scrap the pacers. Lots of people left behind again today on the Whitby branch and sardine cans are in operation...

    1st Class & Oyster

Hi all. If I travel from St Pancras to East Croydon using my oyster card and travel in 1st class how does the Oyster reader know what to charge?

Northern Rail - Letting the North-East down

I'm sorry I must disagree with comment regarding extra trains for cricket at Chester-Le-Street. Northern are providing 1 train running from Newcastle to Chester-Le-Street at around 10am, then empty stock back to Newcastle via Darlington. It is TP Express who are stopping most services...

    Durham Coast on Saturdays

If memory serves me right the reason more people from Stockton & Billingham didn't make use of the additional trains is because they ran non stop from Darlington to Hartlepool. Also Northern had to run buses from Billingham to collect passengers left behind to get them to Hartlepool.

    Flying Scotsman

Morning all. Just had a E mail from line manager to say it will be diesel hauled from York To Grosmont this afternoon. Can anybody confirm this?

Delay reply or refund after cancelled Grand Central service

Don't think you will get full refund or free tickets. As with Grand Centrals compensation leaflets you will receive 75% of the cost of a single ticket or 75% of the relevant portion of a return ticket. They work out the delay based on your arrival time at your destination. By all means write...

    Northern franchise awarded to Arriva.

Think it's to do with the location of the doors in the middle of the carriage. Doors over the bogies are a bit closer to the platform than centre doors.

    Northern franchise awarded to Arriva.

Sure I was told that class 150's can't use Hartlepool because they have doors in the middle of the carriages that would be too far from the curved platform at Hartlepool. Saying this, anything will be better than a pacer in the North East. :D. Looking at minimum stopping patterns for...

Hopefully be a good journey time to attract passengers. Think the signal box at Norton West is due for de-commissioning in the next 2 years so shouldn't make Saturday running a problem as currently the signal box shuts at 1430 on a Saturday until Monday mornings. Ploughing through all the...

    Northern franchise awarded to Arriva.

Interesting finally a definitive answer to the Middlesbrough Newcastle routeing question. Hopefully it creates good passenger numbers. Very interesting point about Northern NOT been allowed to run a service from Hartlepool to York. If they can't then who can? If I'm honest I think a Hartlepool...
