    Northern Dec 2019 Timetable Bid

Looking though applications it already looks like Network Rail don't fancy the extra Whitby - Middlesbrough early morning service as signal boxes will have to open earlier. Northern have specified it so it's going to have to go ahead at some point. Interesting to see ARN have said Middlesbrough...

Earlier in the week we did have a 4 hour gap at Eaglescliffe in each direction. The missing train seems to have re appeared. Starting to feel for the guys having to work every Saturday to provide some sort of service in the North East and I thank them for it. Know how they feel working every...

    Single Manned Ticket Offices

There is only me at Eaglescliffe presently. Redcar Central is single manned by the wonderful Lynda and Chester Le Street has a single person in the ticket office but only with a STAR mobile machine and not a fully functioning ticket machine.

    TPE 2018 fare adjustments

Looking through updated restriction codes for Middlesbrough - York in the new year and the off peak day return (not via Darlington) will not be valid before 0930. Meaning the 0928 from Middlesbrough will not be valid with an Off Peak Day Return 'Not Via Darlington'. That's a lot of split tickets...

    Durham Coast + Horden/Peterlee - time for a revamp?

The 1st South Bound Grand Central at Eaglescliffe Monday to Fridays (0730 arrival) usually sees 10-15 passengers off every morning. 2-3 depart the station, the others are split evenly between heading to Middlesbrough and Darlington. The 1st Grand Central is the earliest way to get from...

    Delays at Eaglescliffe 08/08

The staff member involved had a fall on board the train at Eaglescliffe. The service in question 1n93 had the usual 2 train guards on board so the train could continue. Ambulance crew turned up with in 10-15 minutes and took staff member away. The steep ramps did not go down well with the...

    VTEC Middlesbrough - London route

I expect initially that Grand Central will lose a few passengers from Eaglescliffe has many travel over from the other side of Middlesbrough to use the station for London. Like you say some may come back if Grand Central pricing remains competitive. Be interesting when we get there to see the...
