Lumo's 1E82 Edinburgh-Kings Cross and 1S97 return have today been formed of 803001 and 803003. Lumo have posted on social media that this is the highest number of seats ever reserved on a train. There are over 800 seats on a pair of 803s, so in terms of recent services they're almost certainly...
So I was in Nottingham earlier this week and used the tram to travel from Nottingham station to my hotel. I tried to use my phone to tap in on Nottingham station but it would not work. On trying again, I could see that the system was trying to access the POP app (Tyne and Wear/NE England PAYG...
A technically hypothetical question but based on a real experience last night.
I arrive at the station late in the evening to catch a train with TOC A to my destination. I have a 45 minute wait for it. There is a later train with TOC B, 30 mins later.
Before I buy my ticket, I notice a train...
Not sure where to put this, so please feel free to move it!
I noticed this train this morning, 1E02 0550 Edinburgh-King's Cross
Real Time Trains: 1E02
It dropped time continuously from the moment it left Edinburgh. I notice it spent 9 minutes at both Newcastle and York, which suggests that...
Hi all, I'm probably doing something stupid here but I can't work it out.
Yesterday myself and my partner travelled from York to Manchester on 2U50 11:58 YRK-MAN. We bought two tickets using the forum site, which gave us 8 tickets on the split but only 2 PDFs. The train was cancelled at...
60087 suffered a serious failure at Northallerton last week and has been in the sidings at Northallerton since then. Yesterday it was dragged up to Castle Hills by 60026 on a wheel skate, and today it has been collected by 37250 to take it down the Wensleydale railway to Leeming Bar, where it...
There's also been a train vs vehicle issue at Low Lane LC between Northallerton and Yarm this morning. Redcar TPEs are cancelled and GC Sunderlands are either going via Eaglescliffe and Darlo, or via Newcastle. Train involved appears to be 6M16 Wilton-Knowsley...
So there was a person under train issue near Birtley last night, presumably with 1E64 Reading-Newcastle. There were a number of cancellations at Darlington and Durham of northbound services.
Meanwhile though, 1N32 1930 KGX-NCL, formed by a bimode (800109), arrived at Durham only 8 minutes late...
This morning, the first northbound LNER northern shuttle (1L41 Doncaster-Newcastle) and the first southbound (1K41 Newcastle-York) are cancelled, both because of a "track circuit defect (IC)". I'm wondering how a track circuit issue could have cancelled two trains starting over 100 miles apart...
Looking at this, 9E18 tonight appears to have skipped Darlington, Durham and Chester-le-Street.
Whilst that is excellent for TPE in terms of delay-repay for passengers already on the train and going to Newcastle (was 40 late, arrived 28 late), what is going on there?
9E18 RTT
Bit of a strange one ... Northallerton to Edinburgh and return next month (two people with railcard).
Note the 11.26 and 12.07 fares. These are both LNER to Newcastle and XC Newcastle-Edinburgh (and vice versa).
I can't see that this has been raised before, apologies if it has.
For the next 3 weeks, the weekday York-Newcastle LNER shuttle is not stopping at Northallerton, apart from the first and last northbound services. The gap is being filled by Liverpool-Newcastle TPE trains stopping there...
I'm at an event in Leeds on 5th October and was looking to see if I could get back to Northallerton the same night.
There's a train to York at 2245 but at York this happens...

The train (9E21) arrives in Platform 3 at...
Hello all, clearing out some stuff from an empty house after a death and wondered if these photos could be identified? I don't have a date, though they were with some other photos dating from the early 60s. The only thing I have to go on is that the deceased's relatives worked on the railways...
And now there's a landslip between Rugby and Coventry, line partially blocked, Rail Replacement buses in operation. Disruption expected until Tuesday according to National Rail.

Hello all
I passed 78018 and its tender - on two separate low loaders - on the southbound M6 yesterday between J4 and J3. Given that its home railway appears to be the GCR (and someone posted on here that it was running there on 7 April), where had it been (and where was it going)?
So people can travel to London to pay respects.
