Nottingham NET - can't pay by phone due to another metro app

So I was in Nottingham earlier this week and used the tram to travel from Nottingham station to my hotel. I tried to use my phone to tap in on Nottingham station but it would not work. On trying again, I could see that the system was trying to access the POP app (Tyne and Wear/NE England PAYG app) on my phone and then of course failing. I ended up using a payment card in the end which worked fine. I appreciate this is an edge case, but it does sound like a design fault to me. Is there a similar NET app, and if so is the system failing to distinguish between them?

When I had a virtual Pop card on my phone, I found that it got in the way of paying by card with my phone on buses in various parts of the country. It was resolved by removing the Pop card (which didn't have any credit, it was in debit by around £3!). I can't say whether that was due to the ticket machines or the Pop card, but I'm inclined to blame the latter.

It does sound like it; having said that, I've never had a problem with using my phone in the same way anywhere else, for example TfL or the Manchester Metro.

Not an app, it's looking for a physical Robin Hood PAYG card. You don't get the problem on many other systems since they only use ITSO for concessionary passes ad day/season tickets

Ah, right. It was the fact that it was pulling the POP app up on my Google Pay screen that was the confusing part. Having said that, I looked back to the last time I was in Nottingham using the tram (which was July 2025) and I'm sure I used Google Pay without any problems then.
