As it says in the title this engine (or whatever) is sitting at Reading station and I know some of you will want to pop along and take photos, videos, bits of coal etc
I went into the Paddington ticket office (12.35) to get my return half of a Newport - Paddington excessed to Abergavenny and they wouldn't/couldn't do me an excess.
It seems anyone who did it previously couldn't/shouldn't have. I went to two different people who said they would sell me a...
hi,
i am looking at the real time trains web site, using the advanced view for later tonight. i can see various HST trains for departure from certain platforms, but can't see the incoming train arriving. i like to monitor the incoming train for lateness but i can't work out what is wrong...
I am wondering about the morning restrictions with this railcard.
The conditions say it cannot be used between 04:30am and 09:30am, so does that mean if you catch a train before 04.30 you must get off at 04.30?
i was going to use a return half an off peak return to travel Paddington to Didcot but my plans have changed i will be going straight back to abergavenny.
what will be the cheapest way to do this? an excess or a ticket from didcot?
hi, I have an appointment cancelled for this afternoon and want to head for home, from Paddington, at about 16.00-16.30.
I have a super off peak ticket that won't be valid until 19.15 and am looking for the cheapest way to travel. is it possible to get an off peak to swindon and use the super...
Occasionally, I have to pick something up in Swindon on my way back to South Wales. Is it possible to get the 19.00 from Paddington to Bristol, get my letter and get on the 19.15 from Paddington, with a Super Off Peak ticket to Newport?
The ticket wouldn't normally be valid to Swindon on that...
Anyone know why I can't find a 05.30am Newport to Paddington for 3rd October? FGW website doesn't have any engineering work.
If it isn't running any alternatives that would be cheap.
There appears to be no 05.30 Tuesday-Friday.
regards
sean
Quick question. Eldest son is 27 and is finishing a Masters degree. Is it ok for him to renew his Mature Student railcard early while he is still a student, even though he won't be a student in a few weeks?
Last week I was traveling into Paddington from South Wales on a packed train. As usual I wait for the mass rush to leave and get off. I see what looks like a double coupon ticket/receipt on the platform and someone from the back off the train walking along picks it up, looks at it, separates it...
I'm planning a day trip to Oxford this week and was trying to use the First Great Western site to find possible split tickets. It offers various low prices that are not valid on any trains. Can anyone suggest possible splits?
I can travel early 5/6am and might be doing more of these journeys...
I have a super off peak return, Abergavenny to Paddington and i have used the Outward part.
Can I excess the return (PAD-AGV) from super off peak to off-peak?
If yes how much will it be?
Suoer off peak return is £65 and off peak return is £81.50 (I think)
If i can't excess what would...
It seems there is a fatality at Cholsey affecting trains through there. It is sad and not the fault of any TOC. I will be on the train at Reading until we begin our journey again, without complaint.
Perhaps others reading this can vary their journey, or could be advised of alternative routes...
I was travelling on a train earlier this week when two ticket incidents happened in a short space of time.
1. a couple didn't have their advance tickets, but had a letter/printout which was read by the guard and he let them travel.
2. a group of 4 were travelling on the wrong train for...
I have another spate of journeys from Hereford/Abergavenny to Paddington coming up over the next couple of months and have been playing with the FGW ticket page to look at prices.
I noticed that following a strange route I can get a cheaper ticket and wondered if I would be allowed to use it...
