It appears to be running (starting in Swansea )- but sans passengers - which usually means either a charter train or empty stock
Why - pass.
Edit - there do appear to be some ill defined engineering works the previous evening mainly affecting last trains. Maybe they are causing knock on staffing problems - ie no train manager
Alternatives - travel the previous evening or check out Megabus and National Express

I can't move my appointment in London. FGW customer services don't know, they confirm there is no engineering work, but do not know why that train is not running.
Any helpful FGW employee know what is going on?
If i turn up at 05.30am with a super off peak return and a paper timetable, will I be allowed to catch the 06.09 even though my ticket won't normally be valid?

What about the many other people affected? That is a very busy train, even on a Friday.
It is too expensive to book a hotel for the evening before and coaches won't get me there on time.

I've just looked up Avantex, there is no 03.58 from Swansea (or equivelant further up the track) on 3rd Oct. I've no idea why, except the usual "Engineering Works". All I can suggest is see what Customer Services say, if they will give an easement on the 06.09 get it in writing as chances are staff will not be told.

It can mean different things. With FGW it seems to usually be used when reserving a path for a train that might run but probably won't, to avoid the train showing up in public-facing timetables and booking engines.
