Southeastern Advance Off-Peak and Suppliment for HS1

So is a Advance Off-Peak with a railcard to London terminus, ex. St Panc = £12.80 *roughly. (From the Kent coast) If I bought a return suppliment £2.90 with railcard - my question is, is it legal. And if not, what are my ticketing rights? No mention on the SET website.

    XC from BHM to EXD

Will a Vomiter or Mark 3 be used on the 18:12 from New Street on Monday. It so bloody specific, who knows! Am I right in thinking it will probabily be a Vomiter? And usually on XC's track record for overcrowded trains in the past from my experience, if I don't get to sit in my reserved seat...

The real facts behind the ATW potential strike please

I am not sure if I can rely on the BBC on this occasion but I am wondering, what is the real issues behind the ATW strike. Are drivers seriously asking for a 12% pay rise over 2 years? Taking their pay (Or I assume the top level for drivers) to just under 40k?

Can I break my journey from Preston - Chorley at Leyland

TPE and Northern cover the Preston to Chorley route. TPE does not stop at Leyland and goes to Chorley direct, but Northern do. With an off-peak ticket, can I break my journey at Leyland and rejoin shortly thereafter?

What is happening at Leyland right now?

I've passed on a TPE about 20 minutes ago, a Class 180 Northern Rail Adelante on the platform 2 at Leyland. Doors are open, and firefighters are on the platform if I am not mistaken, I saw two. Can anyone shed light?

Should all new build trains be built to a maximum width...

I love the Class 395. It is spatious, comfertable and most importantly wide, thus not making it crampted. Its width is: 2.81 m (9 ft 3 in) Compare this to the Class 390 Pendolino and Extendolino Its width is: 2.73 m (8 ft 11 in) What I am trying to say is, I think the width of a 395...

    Exeter: St David's/Central

For reasons I cannot explain, I have a lot of hanging around overnight in Exeter St Davids. But which is better to hang around overnight for about 6 hours. St Davids or Central. I know St Davids is a big hub, but which is better?

    Network Rail Station Improvement Scheme

I am led to believe there will be some changes in 2011 for Preston station. Is it suppose to be platform extentions at 3 and 4 in order to accomodate the extendolino. I'm sure I read Preston had short platforms and needed to be extended... and/or Are there meant to be changes for...

May timetable release and advanced ticketing via NR system

Because I can't buy intercity tickets at advance prices yet for April or May, am I correct in presuming this has something to do with the May timetable? If not, why can't I buy advance tickets from Preston/Manchester to London?

Another media allegation against Southeastern Railways

Obviously with the punctuality figures coming in at 82.04% - 0.04% above the 81.9% or lower rate for compensation for season ticket holders... BBC South East Today says the figures were only propped up to reach 82.04% because of the inclusion of High Speed One figures. Now we are smart...

London to Glasgow via train or plane. Which is faster.

This is a tenuous thread to the demise of BMI. I am wondering what is faster. Say if you wanted to get to Central London, like Westminster. And in Glasgow, somewhere central (never been myself) such as the main square if they have one. If the fastest timing is 4h 10m and an average of 4h 25m...

What would be needed to upgrade the WCML from 125mph to 140mph

I am curious to know what would be needed to upgrade the WCML to be ready to take 140mph on the route. Also, how much would this cost, in reality and in Network Rail terms. Plus are there any sections of the line that are still not 4-track with the exception of north of Preston?

Manchester Airport, running to the train

I will be landing roughly 8.30am into Terminal 3 at Manchester Airport with no luggage. So, is it possible to catch the advance book train at 9am to Preston... Even if I run from T3 to Manchester Station. Is it possible?

    Online tickets go 'missing'

Yesterday was a bad day to travel on the railway for me. Cancellations, delays and missing tickets were all part of my rubbish journey between Preston and Huddersfield. But - has anyone experienced missing tickets before? I shall explain. I booked three hours before I was suppose to...

What causes signal failures in the UK?

Excuse my ignorance, I am just facinated by what causes signal failures. I assume it is multiple factors. From vandalism (cable theft) - which incidently caused much chaos to the line between Manchester and Preston via Bolton - meaning 1tph was effectivly running, trains terminating...

    Class 172/1 - 2 - 3 different designs

This may sound moronic, but why is the Class 172 across the board not a uniformed fleet for the benefit of flexiblity and future cascading. Although to be fair I have seen the new LM 172/3 and I would prefer that design over the current London Overground 172/1 so if attachments ever need to...
