Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has already been discussed elsewhere.
Does anyone know whether there is a process for refunding the 'difference' of a ticket purchased on-board for full-fare as you did not have your RST leisure card on you, at a ticket office?
Assuming there is not but just...
Is it possible to visit every c2c-managed station in one (week)day (using any operator/transport mode, but probably c2c :D). Starting and ending at Fenchurch Street, running between, let's say 9am and 7pm?
c2c must be the smallest TOC in terms of area served? Maybe Merseyrail just beats that?
I've been wondering recently - how common is it to get a rail service which calls at one calling point multiple times?
I'm thinking Salisbury - Romsey - Southampton Central - Romsey, which effectively does a loop of Southampton, before terminating somewhere it's already been to.
What doesn't...
I've just been delayed by 50 minutes on a CrossCountry service to Manchester Piccadilly from Oxford. As a result, I had some time to wander around the station, and I got talking to somebody at the ticket office (nobody behind me). She showed me the software they use to plan journeys for people...
I was approached by two EMR revenue protection officers at Derby this morning, who asked to see my ticket. I showed them my single child ticket valid to the Birmingham Stations Group. They asked me how I got to Derby, and I told them I came from Stoke-on-Trent. They asked to see my ticket from...
Re this:
It seems all the signs say "Warrington Borough Council" as opposed to "Northern" (even though they manage the station). I've never seen a station with signage from the Local Authority. Does anyone know why this is?
I'm currently on a Transport for Wales service between Crewe and Chester (where it terminates) - a service with no intermediate stops (ever, there's literally no stations for it to stop at). Are there any other examples of this across the UK?
(admins - feel free to move this thread, I feel as...
Hi all. I'm Harry Burr - Chief Executive at Sustainable Transport Midlands. I'm also currently leading Daventry Parkway Project which is a campaign to reopen the railway station in Weedon Bec to serve Daventry post-HS2. You may've read about it in Modern Railways or BBC News.
I'm working on a...
Thought I'd start a quick discussion about Kenilworth's semi-new station. I saw this image (attached) of the stations signage, and it looks quite Network Rail-esc even though the station is managed by West Midlands Trains. Any guesses as to why?
Hi all,
I had an idea a few weeks ago about the technicalities of creating new CrossCountry services to better connect London and Kent with the Midlands and North of England. One of these ideas was a route between Leicester and Folkestone Central, calling at Kettering, Luton, London St Pancras...
Just wanted to post this thread out of personal interest. I live right next to the West Coast Main Line in Weedon Bec, and just heard a very different sounding train come past, certainly wasn't a 350, 390, 221 or 325, or any type of freight for that matter. Sounded electric to me, actually.
I...
Is there any chance after HS2, Avanti West Coast could run a more frequent service on the Northampton Loop, calling at Northampton? Currently they only run Southbound services early in the morning and late in the evening on occasions.
I've recently been campaigning for a new railway line to be reopened in Northamptonshire called the South Northants Link. I've outlined our plans on our website, but I'm just not sure who to approach with these plans now, or who would help me the most.
Would it be the Department for Transport...
Hi, I'm a 14 year old railway campaigner, working on a few projects in the last few months.
I've been exploring the idea of a Northamptonshire/East Midlands Hub Two station in Brackley, more exactly, Turweston (a village that would be totally knocked out by High Speed Two) to serve...
I've recently started building a database of train station information on Google sheets, which I plan to convert to an app and website for railway enthusiasts to find out information about railway stations, and trainspotters to get more info on the non-stopping services that pass through without...
Does anyone know of some sort of agenda of when the Grand Central Class 90 test trains run on the WCML, or how to locate them on RTT? Been looking out for one but no luck as of yet.
Hi everyone. Just a quick question about which train station has the most variety of Train Operating Companies passing through (stopping or non-stopping)? So far, Peterborough is the most I've found. Is this true, or is there another one?
Peterborough has
CrossCountry
EMR
Great Northern
LNER...
I've been hearing these words all over the place, and it seems all of them are the same thing to me. What actually is the difference between these 3 different approaches?
If the Williams Review is accepted and this centralised rail authority is created, how would the operators names be shown on the logos or livery of the trains? Would it be similar to TfL, where there is one name for the entire system although operated by different businesses? Or would it just...
Northamptonshire have been terrible with rail travel in recent years with only six stations in total. Weedon Station being reopened would make a lot of sense, even if only LNWR stopped there. What do you all think?
