Any recommendations for a decent pub to sit in prior to boarding the Night Riviera on a Sunday evening?
The possibility of real ale / craft beer being a definite bonus!
Many Thanks
As per the title, outside of the UK, what is the most expensive per mile ticket that an Interrail Pass would negate buying? (ie where is the best value to be had out of an Interrail Pass?)
For the purposes of this, I will exclude those that require a compulsory reservation (eg TGVs, Eurostar etc.)
Evening All
I have purchased a ticket (as part of a split from the Forum's ticketing site) and one leg of the journey is on an Advance Purchase Carlisle to Edinburgh ticket which is marked 'Specified TPE trains & connections only'. However the itinerary does not use any TPE services and is as...
Having just seen a video of an 8 car DMUs lash up at Llangollen this weekend, I'm wondering which railway regularly has the longest train length? This may differ between narrow gauge railways, with their shorter coaches and standard gauge which predominantly use mk1s.
Thanks
Firstly, I am not sure whether this should be in the Fares section or the International section so happy for the thread to be moved if required.
Myself and my friend are wishing to travel as foot passengers overnight on the ferry. I will hold an interrail pass (which I believe gets a 30%...
As per the thread title, would a sailrail ticket from Peterborough - Hook van Holland be valid into Kings Cross/Moorgate and then out of Liverpool Street, or would I need to go via Ely & Ipswich?
I've checked routing from Peterborough to Harwich and this appears to be valid via London but I'm...
Hi All
At the start of February we are going to be flying to/from Berlin in order to get to the Harz railway. Now, we will have one day before and one day after to effectively get from Berlin Airport to Quedlingburg and then from Weringerode to Berlin Airport. We will be travelling on...
I hold a 26-30 Railcard and am looking at tickets from Leeds to Sheffield at around 0800 next week.
Northern will sell me an advance single on the 0837 which costs £3.85 with my Railcard, discounted from £5.90 (bought from LNERs app)
However I was of the understanding that there was a minimum...
We will be visiting Sorrento in a few weeks and making a number of journeys on the delightful Circumvesuviana narrow gauge system, and on some days also using Naples' metro system.
I've read differing reports regarding tickettng - has anyone been recently and can confirm that tap in / tap out...
Hi all
I understand that the current arrangement of the Fort William, Aberdeen and Inverness portions of the Caledonian Sleeper was only introduced in the late 1990s, before that each portion being a separate train to London.
When was the current arrangement of splitting/joining at Edinburgh...
Hi
I'm looking at getting the 2056 from Edinburgh - Newcastle on Saturday, and plan to buy the 'Lumo Only' anytime day single (although this query would also relate to any interavailable ticket).
If I do not have a reservation am I ok to board the service? I note that there are some unreserved...
Hi
I am looking to book a sleeper compartment for 2 people on this train - one will have FIP boxes and another interrail pass.
Can this be booked online through the Ceske Drahy website, or has anyone got any tips?
Don't really want to leave this until we get there and do it in person as the...
We are in Paris for a day next week and will be making 2 or 3 metro/RER journeys in the city centre. what is the best/easiest/cheapest way to get tickets for two people? Thanks
Just a bit of trivia really. In Europe, which service would take a piece of passenger rolling stock furthest from its host country? It's probably easier to go "as the crow flies" to the nearest border given the multitude of rail routes.
Beat I can think of is SBB coaches to Przemysl on EC106...
I have noticed that Nightjet prices have appeared to suddenly jump dramatically in price when booking with an interrail pass.
What was working out at around £200 for two people to travel in February/March from Zurich - Vienna in a double deluxe sleeper berth with interrail passes last week is...
Hi All
I am looking at booking a Brussels - Vienna Nightjet next February. The date/train in question is available to book if I am a full fare paying passenger (eg ticket + reservation), but I am unable to make a reservation on the OBB website when I select an Interrail Pass as a discount...
I've been looking at the timetables for this weekend's Arlberg Pass closure, and have seen on OBB's website that the EC164 travels via Salzburg and then non-stop to Bregenz
Does anyone know if this is correct, and what route it takes Salzburg- Bregenz, and if it runs with the SBB panoramacar &...
I've got 5 days in November, Friday to Tuesday and intend to get a 5 days interrail pass, starting in the North East and hopefully using LNER/Eurostar to get to Europe.
Has anyone got ideas for an itinerary/ places to go?
I like a sleeper train and loco hauled trains. I see sense in doing the...
I'm intending to make a trip from Westhoughton to Manchester Central Zone on a Friday the 0949 train - and for this I can buy an Off-Peak Day Return for £7.50. I hold a 26-30 Railcard but there is a minimum fare before 10am, and so it would be pointless using it in this case.
Now for my return...

Could we not adopt the practice of putting names on tickets as is done abroad? ie I buy a ticket for myself and my name is printed on it/above the QR code, I buy a ticket...
