I have a first Advance (single ticket) from Newcastle to King’s Cross today, with the following reservations:
Newcastle 1035 - 1157 Doncaster - Cross Country
Doncaster 1204 - 1344 King’s Cross - Grand Central
We’ve left York 6 minutes late. If I miss my connection at Doncaster, which seems...
I was traveling on the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow T4 to East Finchley. I had tapped in (and would later tap out) with my iPhone using the Express Travel feature, which was set to use Card A. (For those unfamiliar, Express Travel means you don't have to authorise the card in any way your phone...
The LNER website says they're 'available on off-peak services'. But there are no off-peak fares between Newcastle-London any more.
Am I supposed to remember which trains used to be off-peak, or play around with Finsbury Park, Blaydon, or whatever other fake destination we're using at the...
(Asking here, rather than International, because it's more about how things work here in GB. But feel free to move this thread.)
On various Interrail groups and forums I'm in, we often get the same question popping up. Something like:
GB resident: "I've got a spare inbound/ outbound day and no...
Hi Folks,
Is an Off-Peak Return from Leeds to Manchester Stns (£28.40) valid for this itinerary?
Leeds-Manchester Victoria 0929-1037
Manchester Victoria-Manchester Oxford Road 1047-1053
I'm trying to get to Old Trafford, and the Metrolink is disrupted on Sunday, so getting a train to Oxford...
Am I right in thinking the upgrade fee for Edinburgh-Oxenholme is £20?
The ticket I'm looking at is £22 more expensive in SP, so I may as well pay on-board?
Thanks.
If you have a second class Interrail or Eurail pass, you might want to upgrade to first using something like Seatfrog, Weekend First or (to Standard Premium, rather than First) an onboard upgrade with Avanti.
Or contact Eurail to exchange your pass.
If none of those is suitable, can a...
Asking on behalf of a friend ... but mostly to satisfy my own curiosity and for future reference.
He & partner arrived at Regent Centre for a Metro to Newcastle Airport, bought paper tickets, and went down to the platforms. Platform displays indicated over 60 minutes until the next train...
Ticket was Off-Peak Return Ashington-Northampton. £161.80
Intended journey 0836-1407 today, changing at Newcastle, Tamworth and Rugby.
After handing in my ticket to the wall at Northampton , I then intended to travel up to Coventry on a separate ticket, before ending the day at Milton Keynes...
Sorry, another Heathrow question!
I want to travel from Heathrow T4 to East Finchley (via Elizabeth & Northern Lines). On a Saturday morning, and I hold a Network Railcard.
Am I right in thinking the cheapest ticket is an Off-peak Day Travelcard for £10.40? I can get this to price up on LNER...
Does anyone have any experience with Acela?
They say I need to be at the station 'at least' 30 minutes before departure. That sounds like overkill to me.
I'm only traveling with small hand luggage, and I have tickets in Apple Wallet, but I think they have some sort of 'check-in' nonsense...
Hello,
I have an Off-Peak Return from Carlisle to Kendal. £21.80.
I was planning on using the return portion yesterday (Sunday), but there were no Sunday services on the Windermere line, only a few rail replacement buses. The Sunday services were showing as operating when I purchased the...
Hi folks
I have the following itinerary today, with split tickets.
The 0935 from York is cancelled. Just wondering what my options are here. Do I have to wait for the next XC to Sheffield? Then follow my route to Nottingham and ask for permission to board the next EM service to London?
Just...
I'm trying to get a ticket from Newcastle - Sheffield tomorrow (Sunday 14) departing at 1004.
Most ticketing sites show an Advance at £40.50 - and the forum site finds a slightly cheaper split (Darlington) - but nowhere will actually let me book it.
"We're sorry, but the fare between DAR and...
Journey was Euston to Heathrow T4 by Northern Line & Elizabeth Line on a Sunday evening, holding a Network Railcard.
I thought the cheapest ticket would be an Off-Peak Day Single for £9.95 and tried to buy this from a machine at Chester without success. With a few minutes before my train to...
I tried to make a change to an Advance ticket yesterday, because I arrived early at the station. I had a ticket for the 10:27 but had arrived just in time for the 10:00.
Uber offers fee-free changes. You have to buy the new ticket, then request a refund for the original.
So I booked the new...
(I asked a version of this in the RailUK tickets thread, but possibly better to start a thread?)
APN (Newcastle Airport) to London is priced at £2.90 higher than the current Super Off-Peak NCL-KGX, allowing travel on the Metro from Airport. Would that allow me to start short at South Gosforth...
I had a strange one with Seatfrog yesterday.
I had been bidding on a London-Newcastle upgrade and winning. Precisely two hours before departure I had a notification saying 'No Upgrades Available'.
This is different from the usual 'you've been outbid' or 'you didn't win this time' messages...
I don't know if folk have any Club Eurostar points lying around. The changes after the merger with Thalys made redemptions suddenly very expensive overnight (albeit partially offset by higher earning rate, and a one-off boost to your existing balance).
I've just had an email from Eurostar...
I've asked this on the Eurail forums, but I thought I'd also run it past the wisdom on here, before letting it loose on unsuspecting foreign tourists. Is there anything I've missed?
