Hi folks

I have the following itinerary today, with split tickets.

The 0935 from York is cancelled. Just wondering what my options are here. Do I have to wait for the next XC to Sheffield? Then follow my route to Nottingham and ask for permission to board the next EM service to London?

Just arriving in York now

-

0825 NCL-YRK
0935 YRK-SHF
1106 SHF-NOT
1209 NOT-STP

Ticket 1 NCL-LDS Advance LNER & Connections

Ticket 2 LDS-SHF Advance XC

Ticket 3 SHF-NOT Anytime Day Single (northern)

Ticket 4 NOT-STP Advance EM

Station staff at York have advised me to get the 0946 Northern to Leeds

If you caught the 0946 to Leeds you are due there in time to catch the 1109 service to Nottingham from where you can catch the 1310 to London

Thanks.

Yes I saw that train. I guess I need permission from the guard to board that Northern service with my XC ticket?

There’s also the 1100 XC Leeds to Sheffield, currently showing as delayed to 1122, which may be safer?

Sadly yes (until the rules become more sensible in this area); did they say yes?

If you are denied travel on an earlier train, yes.

Please let us know how you got on; if TPE denied travel I would definitely want to know about it...

The XC from Leeds was cancelled anyway, before I even arrived.

So I took the 1109 Northern to Nottingham (having asked the despatcher on the platform, who said they were accepting XC tickets), and then the 1310 Nottingham-London.

The 1310 was short-formed and then itself diverted en route to arrive in St Pancras 32 min late at 1527.

A shade over 7 hours from Newcastle-London. That'll teach new to try to avoid the engineering on the ECML! 94 mins delay in total

I've sent a delay repay claim to XC, and I think I'm due the full cost of my 4 tickets?
