Hello,

I have an Off-Peak Return from Carlisle to Kendal. £21.80.

I was planning on using the return portion yesterday (Sunday), but there were no Sunday services on the Windermere line, only a few rail replacement buses. The Sunday services were showing as operating when I purchased the ticket on Friday.

Would I be entitled to get a 50% refund on my ticket if I don’t use it? The delay to my journey to Carlisle would have been about 90 minutes if I'd chosen to wait for the next RRB. Instead I took the offer of a lift.

Secondly, there's a small chance I'll be in the area again, so I could use the ticket. I guess there's no problem waiting until the end of validity before I request a refund?

So I submitted a refund request to Uber/ Omio, and they've refunded the full £21.80, even though I wasn't seeking a refund for the outbound. They say this is because the ticket was completely unscanned.

Not sure what I need to do now. I think I need to give them £10.40 back somehow! Or maybe that's too much hassle?

I wouldn't worry too much to be honest, as long as you were accurate in what you told them, it's their own fault they've given you too much. I've certainly had excess delay repay in the past which I've just accepted!

You could donate the £10.40 to a suitable charitable cause if it makes you feel any better :)
