Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me fill in some detail on this.
I was a child and taken on this to Broadstairs by my parents and I think I know the route around south London based on my memory a few years later (signal check in the Clapham Junction/Stewarts Lane area), but I would like to...
Can someone confirm that I am correct in that I cannot use a one day travelcard out of Paddington back to Oxford between 16:30 and 19:30 on a fast train?
Thank you
I have noticed that there are a few stations on the network that have a significantly better service on a Sunday than they do on a weekday. The ones I have noted are:
Lakenheath
Heysham Port
Chapleton
Portsmouth Arms
All the above have at least twice as many Sunday trains timetabled to...
I seem to remember back in the 80s that there was the possibility of Airdrie trains being diverted via the Sunnyside - Whifflet line or somewhere similar. Does anyone remember this and can anyone point me in the direction of some more information on this?
Thanks
Following the conversion of these to 458/5 units, are there 2 spare driving motor coaches at all? If so, would it not be possible to use this as a 2 car unit on the Lymington branch in order to free up a DMU for somewhere else on the network?
Apologies if this has been covered before on here, but I couldn't find anything obvious when searching.
Having looked at this, I can see a number of benefits if both curves were re-instated and at least the southern curve electrified. (If the new Merseyrail stock is dual voltage, then this...
I'm considering buying an annual season ticket to get the gold card, however, I only could do with buying it between Oxford and Radley and buying monthly seasons between Radley & Reading as my job in Reading may not last a year.
I visit Radley regularly, so there is a purpose for the annual...
Am I right in thinking that as I hold an advance from King's Cross to Helensburgh, I can use any train from Edinburgh as it states EC & connections and so I'm not limited to the service that was flagged up on the Scot Rail website (through train from Edinburgh to Helensburgh)? No service is...
I've booked an advance from Oxford to Paddington on 04/08/13 and also an advance from Kings Cross to Helensburgh on the same day. I've given myself and hour to get across London. If my train is late into Paddington, am I stuffed as far as the Helensburgh ticket is concerned if I miss the booked...
Hi, I'm looking to do the Cowlairs 'north' curve on the 1711 SO Oban - Edinburgh from Helensburgh to Falkirk and will be in Glasgow to start with. Am I able to use a Glasgow - Helensburgh return and a Dalmuir - Falkirk return to go from Charing Cross - Helensburgh - Falkirk - Charing Cross or do...
Not sure if this is the right section for this.
As the Charing Cross branch is to be cut short at Kennington the majority of the day, extended to Battersea in the future and run to only one of the Northern termini, is it time that the West End and Bank branches of the Northern line were...
A colleague buys a weekly ticket from Thatcham to Reading and couldn't find it yesterday when travelling home so they bought a single. As they still couldn't find it this morning, a return was purchased. The weekly has been found and they are wondering if they could get a refund for any of the...
I've been looking up the cheapest day return price for this trip and have found a fare of £30.20 overall via Manchester. I need the flexibility to go via Preston or Darwen to do this trip (I saw that the quickest route, Crewe-Preston, costs £43). Can anyone better this at all?
Need to be in...
Hi, I'm looking to go to Ansdell over the weekend of 09/12-12/12 and am looking to see if I can do this relatively cheaply. On Saturday 10/12 I will also be going to Morecambe from Ansdell (return £12.70), so if that factors in a rover, then all to the good.
So far as I can see, the best...
I've had a look at a couple of things and I can find a same day return for £52 (2xAdvance).
As it's to go to football, I need to be there for 14:00 approx (allows for late running) and wouldn't leave much before 17:30.
Does anyone know if there is a cheaper option?
Thanks
Hi, does anyone know if you can buy a ranger or rover via an online site, or does it have to be at a station?
I'm off to Macclesfield on Saturday from Oxford for the football and have worked out it's cheaper to buy an array of tickets than an Advanced, but I'll need to get hold of Cherwell...
Can anyone tell me if an Anytime return between these 2 stations would allow you to travel via Newport (SW) or Hereford on a leg of the journey, rather than the obvious route through Birmingham & Crewe?
Not sure if this in in the right forum.
I'm trying to work out whether it is possible to go through every station in Wales on a 4 day Freedom of Wales rover, one day of which being a Sunday.
Current calculations are throwing me short in the valleys on day 4.
So far I've got to the idea...
Is the flat crossing north of Newark Northgate the only flat crossing of this type remaining in Britain? The others that I was aware of at Retford, Lincoln and Bedford have either been bridged (Retford) or one of the routes over the crossing closed.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
