Season ticket question

I'm considering buying an annual season ticket to get the gold card, however, I only could do with buying it between Oxford and Radley and buying monthly seasons between Radley & Reading as my job in Reading may not last a year.

I visit Radley regularly, so there is a purpose for the annual season other than the gold card.

I know that if you have a season and an ordinary ticket (not advance) you don't have to be on a train that stops at one of the stations on the season ticket, but does this apply if you have 2 season tickets? In other words, could I go from Oxford to Reading with both seasons on a train that doesn't stop at Radley?

If you have two seasons the train must stop at the changeover point.

Your situation is a perfect one for a changeover. Buy an Oxford - Reading season to start with, and change over to an Oxford - Radley ticket when your circumstances change.

Just for reference, your opening post is incorrect. You can combine a season and a non-season with condition 19C so that the train need not call, even if the non-season is an Advance Purchase ticket.

I'd go for the changeover that bb21 suggests.

That's not technically possible.

To be able to purchase an Advance ticket, the train must stop at the station where the tickets change over.

It's not impossible, it's just highly unlikely. There are places where non-stop trains do not have reservations.

Have you got an example in mind?

I can't see how you can sell an Advance to/from a place if the train doesn't stop there.

Presumably it could only be done on the "and Connections" part of the advance ticket.

Something like a Season East Croydon - New Cross Gate, and an advance New Cross Gate - Birmingham being used on an FCC train that does not stop at NXG.

Thanks. I see what you mean now, and I agree, in that case, there is no reason why it would not be valid.
