Hi, I'm looking to do the Cowlairs 'north' curve on the 1711 SO Oban - Edinburgh from Helensburgh to Falkirk and will be in Glasgow to start with. Am I able to use a Glasgow - Helensburgh return and a Dalmuir - Falkirk return to go from Charing Cross - Helensburgh - Falkirk - Charing Cross or do I need to do this as Charing Cross - Helensburgh single and Helensburgh - Falkirk return as the 1711 is set down only at Dalmuir?

If there is an easier/cheaper way of doing this, I would be grateful if you'd let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Is it any cheaper to use a Glasgow Daytripper ticket and pay separately for Dumbarton-Helensburgh and the boundary station (not sure which it is) towards Falkirk?

Was thinking of the Daytripper ticket, but would a return from Croy to Falkirk High be valid with the Daytripper as the train is not stopping at Croy on the way to Falkirk?
