Covid : Infection rates v death rates and a possible second wave

It'll run out of gas when it's done the rounds at the Universities. Which will sadly coincide with the end of various circuit breaker lockdowns. Result: back slapping aplenty at Cardiff Bay and Holyrood.

the most over the top restrictions introduced

I think a compromise is what is needed. If the cafe is at capacity, and there are customers waiting to be seated then there should be a buy something or move on rule. If it's quiet then leave them to it.

France. The segregation between male and female bogs seems to only be an advisory too.

Wales is to ban travel from COVID hotspots

But there's a big difference between being told you cannot leave your town and there being nothing open or available that's worth visiting, so it's not worthwhile leaving. In the event of a further lockdown, the other part of my support bubble lives 55 miles away, so I'll continue going up and...

Or alternatively the British have to stop being so prudish about the whole thing and just have an open door like our continental cousins.

Boris to resign? (Speculation) And who should replace him?

Rishi Sunak is only popular because he has access to the magic money tree. Once the leaves have all fallen from that, then he'll be associated with the inevitable tax rises and austerity that follows.

But Crete is off the quarantine list.

    Media Coverage of COVID -19

The left say that the BBC is in the pocket of the Tories and their paymasters, the right say that the BBC is the voice of the Liberal elite. They can't both be right.

    England's new three-tier lockdown system

And Elmbridge, Surrey. Now the restrictions are hitting the affluent home counties commuter belt, expect trouble in the Tory ranks.

    Coronavirus testing

It's an interesting argument. Potentially you could say that if you have enough virus to trigger a positive in a saliva test then you're contagious. A swab test means you have some virus DNA present, but says nothing about virus load or how contagious you are. Any thoughts?

Whatever happened to the saliva test? That's gone very quiet.

Wales is to ban travel from COVID hotspots

This is why it's unenforceable : Example- person whose car is registered to an address in Liverpool is pulled over. The driver states that since the summer they have been staying with a friend in Devon. This may or may not be true. The police have no right to question your living arrangements...

Covid : Infection rates v death rates and a possible second wave

It's trending flat in England. Down a bit in Wales. Up a bit in Scotland & NI. This is ignoring the last four days on the "by specimen date" chart, as these will be incomplete at this stage.

Wales is to ban travel from COVID hotspots

Why? Unless you're a spotter of DVLA registrations you won't know where each one comes from. In any case many used cars are bought via national dealer networks. Mine was bought in Bournemouth, but was transported down from Scotland somewhere, carried a Scottish originated plate, and now carries...

Halloween children visits in costume this year

We'll be going to the pumpkin farm this weekend as usual, but they'll get carved at home this year rather than at a party. I'm ambivalent to trick or treat anyway, so I won't miss that. What will be interesting is how many more firework injuries there will be, because the public displays are off.

Increase in Graffiti on the network

Generally graffiti levels are low in the UK. The comparison between the approaches to St. Pancras and Gare Du Nord is stark.

Wales is to ban travel from COVID hotspots

If there are exceptions, the rule is unenforceable. This will amount to effectively asking people nicely not to come in (which the majority will observe) and making an example of a few people at honeypot locations.
