Our total reliance on a vaccine and putting life on hold until it's rolled out

You have really got to stop reading so much into these figures. If we tested for any other respiratory virus, you'd see the infections, hospitalisations and unfortunately deaths rise during the autumn. I'm actually surprised that the I fevtionrate and deaths are so low given that we're nearly at...

The withdrawal of over the top restrictions

Big Tesco today. The trolley wiping charade has gone, replaced with a sign saying that staff clean the trolleys regularly, and that hand sanitiser should be used on entry and exit.

Red, yellow, double yellow, green, flashing green for 140mph running :-) Perhaps there could be some feathers as well to indictate which route she intends taking. Although that would depend on her route knowledge or the SNP's route clearance.

Our total reliance on a vaccine and putting life on hold until it's rolled out

The issue seems to be not whether a vaccine is actually effective, but more get something that's safe out that may help a little, but is really an offramp for the government. They can then wind down the testing and blame the strains on the NHS on seasonal demand (which is what it is).

Wales to enter "circuit break" lockdown from Friday 23 October to Monday 9 November

They could try. But I doubt Moscow would co operate. 1603273392 Look at the structure of the English in that tweet. I doubt that has come from an "honest doctor" whatever one of those is. Is it a sub speciality?

    Coronavirus words of the year

"we must act to save lives" Translation: we haven't got a clue why we're doing this or what the exit strategy is. But it makes for a good soundbite that a journalist will be reluctant to challenge.

Circuit breaker is a terrible metaphor anyway. If a circuit trips, something has caused it to do that. Just leaving it and trying to switch back on without investigating the cause does not fix your problem.

Wales to enter "circuit break" lockdown from Friday 23 October to Monday 9 November

He is my local MP. I feel very fortunate that he is. 12 months ago given his and my rather diverging views on Brexit I'd have called anyone who suggested I should vote for him slightly mad.

Wales to enter "circuit break" lockdown from Friday 23 October to Monday 9 November

The WHO have stated that lockdowns are really now only for when you've failed at everything else. Does that mean that in the eyes of the international community Wales is now a failed state?

Wales to enter "circuit break" lockdown from Friday 23 October to Monday 9 November

Will he be refunding every owner of self catering accommodation to the full value of their half term bookings? It's been a crappy summer for obvious reasons, now to rub salt in he's cancelled their last hope of a bit of late income.

the most over the top restrictions introduced

It has no effect. It's the same as household bog cleaner. If you flush immediately it doesn't work. You may as well spit on the handle and wipe it off. It leads to a false sense of security. There is no substitute for hand washing /sanitising and not touching your face.

I hope you're spraying the handles and waiting a full 5 minutes for the disinfectant to evaporate. Otherwise it's a waste of time.

Wales to enter "circuit break" lockdown from Friday 23 October to Monday 9 November

During April I drove multiple times from home in South west England to a work contract in Bridgend, South Wales. The only police car I saw the whole time was manning a speed trap on the outskirts of Bridgend. There will never be roadblocks anywhere.

Does this mean that First Scotrail is an extinct livery after this?

They shouldn't give it to you at all. It's theatre, nothing more. That disinfectant needs about 10 minutes contact to work, and should be left to evaporate, and not be wiped off. Sanitise your hands afterwards, rather than the trolley and don't touch your face in the mean time.

Hand sanitiser isn't subject to COSHH anyway. Hand washes that happen to sanitise as well are governed by the relevant cosmetics regulations, dedicated biocidal hand gels are classed as medicines and are regulated by the MHRA. In both of these cases the onus is on the manufacturer to comply...

the most over the top restrictions introduced

I'm allergic to the cheap alcohol based stuff. That's what two decades in the health service sanitising a gazillion times a day does to your skin. I carry my own foaming sanitiser, which I'm happy to show anyone on a store entrance and use in front of them, but I've still encountered silly sods...

Wales to enter "circuit break" lockdown from Friday 23 October to Monday 9 November

If England wants to follow suit, they'll have to act quickly. There would be some manageable displeasure about half term getaways being cancelled if it was announced tomorrow, but that would pale into insignificance if they wait till the suitcases are already packed on Friday night. Michael...

Wales is to ban travel from COVID hotspots

April was different. The whole of Wales was subject to a 5 mile limit, and by default that meant that anyone from England, or indeed anywhere else in the world could only travel 5 miles from the border/port/Airport. This was to comply with the law in Wales, which applied to everyone. This time...
