ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

True. I’m not sure how worthy the powercars in Ely are. They look a bit tatty and worn out.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Power car availability should be fine as there are normally a bunch sitting around at Haymarket. Scotrail don’t have any spare MK3s. I think they’d be able to contract Kilmarnock or Doncaster to do an extra set to replace HA22. I’m not sure if they can use a classic set as a short term...

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Scotrail will definitely need to find a solution as in essence they are one set down now. I wonder if the First Class/Buffet car is beyond economic repair as it was evidently the least undamaged carriage.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Pretty sure Scotrail have loads of spares sitting around at Haymarket, availability should be okay.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

In terms of a new set to replace HA22, could they maybe take some of the redundant carriages that are currently in store at Ely and get them refurbished to Inter7City spec?

Carmont (near Stonehaven) derailment - 12 August 2020

A lot of people are suggesting that the 3rd member of staff was a catering member. Scotrail have suspended their catering service on all trains, so it may well have been another guard travelling passenger.

Carmont (near Stonehaven) derailment - 12 August 2020

No. There was a 158 (2B13) from Montrose to Inverurie before it.

Carmont (near Stonehaven) derailment - 12 August 2020

Theres also a lot of despicable comments being posted on Social Media. As well as someone on Instagram making an offensive meme about it.

Yep just heard that. Think we should all be careful what we say/post on here.

Carmont (near Stonehaven) derailment - 12 August 2020

Looks quite serious, thoughts with all those involved in this derailment. To those saying about the time the emergency services appeared, consider that there is serious flooding in Stonehaven and the area looks remote, so it may have taken them some time with stretched resources.

    Longest line of sight (UK)

I do like when you are approaching Edinburgh from the West, you get a view of the Three Bridges from the Winchburgh area and from Midcalder on the Shotts Line. Then of course in the Glasgow area, up towards Cathkin you get a nice view of the city skyline in the distance.

Glasgow Queen Street refurbishment and remodelling

Has the tarmac flooring in the main concourse been replaced by the marble now or is it still the same? Glad to see that the building is really in it's final touches now. Will there be a first class lounge too?

Glasgow Central and associated infrastructure: Upgrades needed for HSR

I think it may be an issue with gradual climb in Post-COVID passenger numbers. But as HS2 is about 15 years away, there may well be a case for it. However, I agree with 92002 and doubt that there will be cash or justification for it to go any further north than Birmingham. Personally, they...

Glasgow Central and associated infrastructure: Upgrades needed for HSR

I remember when the St Enoch's Centre had a childs softplay.... good times. I think really everything should be moved onto Buchanan Street or into the Buchanan Galleries. To me the St Enoch Centre is too crowded and an absolute greenhouse in summer.

    ScotRail services

It would've been fun to have seen an 8 car 380 running around Ayrshire. I remember when the 380s first came into service, ScotRail promised that we would be seeing 8 car formations on a daily basis.

    ScotRail services

Must've been an error on RTT's end. The set ran as a 4 car today. 380101 only. I understand trains to Largs are very busy due to the demand for Millport. CalMac were once again reporting wait times of over an hour due to the amount of people trying to get to the island. Yet ScotRail finds it...

    ScotRail services

    Another thing I have noticed is that Ayr and Gourock have an odd imbalance of their express services today: From Ayr: 0650, 0741, 0829, 0851, 1450, 1525, 1548, 1623, 1654, 1724, 1753, 1825, 1850 From Gourock: 0954, 1154, 1354, 1454, 1524, 1549, 1627, 1654, 1724, 1824, 1948 From Glasgow...
