    Stagecoach West Scotland

Stagecoach never seem to do well when they try to stop at shopping centres. The X34/36 through Braehead is one example, not many people got on or off there.

    Stagecoach West Scotland

That's not too great. I use the 585 up to Wemyss Bay sometimes as it provides an easier way to get to Rothesay...

    Stagecoach West Scotland

Wasn't there a very short X17 once that got scrapped a few years back from Kilmarnock to Silverburn?

Major disruption at Ayr Station due to dangerous old hotel (from August 2018)

Yes, Ayr really has not much going for it now. Particularly the High Street with the let down known as Ayr Central Shopping Centre. The Kyle Centre is in need of serious redevelopment as it has potential as a much bigger space than Ayr Central, it could fit so much yet the council are just...

'PEP' derived stock: unloved workhorses, missed when withdrawn

They could've done similar as to what Southern did with their 313s, which I believe were even more clapped out than the 314s. That's very true. The nuclear setting was nice on a Winters day... then the warm heat went away whenever we stopped at a station.

    Announcements overkill

Train guards do seem to be going a bit OTT with announcements now. Scotrail are barely policing it on their trains.

    Announcements overkill

Oh yeah, yelling at the passenger is 100% wrong. I do hope she gets her comeuppance for that. Logically, it makes sense that they are doing that for now. However as trains get busier they will eventually need to open Coach C to passengers again.

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

There is the chords linking the GSW/Cathcart lines to the WCML at Polmadie. 156s have used it in diversions. Glasgow Central > Larkfield Junction > Crossmyloof (reversing at Larkfield both directions), though for freight it could just continue forward. Though the issue would be the junctions at...

'PEP' derived stock: unloved workhorses, missed when withdrawn

It would've been nice to have explored potential life extension projects a bit like what GWR have done with some HSTs. Scotrail I think neglected their PEPs the most, they didn't even fit door buttons to them. I think with a proper heating system, new seats, carpet, PIS, door buttons and a...

Major disruption at Ayr Station due to dangerous old hotel (from August 2018)

I really hope they hurry up with an actual waiting facility. It really is not pleasant on a cold Winter evening waiting for the train to arrive.

    Announcements overkill

I think LNER have done similar with Coach B. It's for use of the train manager to be able to do the doors without getting close to passengers. I believe this is the same reason Coach C is for staff use, you can't really do social distancing in a vestibule with passengers waiting to alight behind...

    Announcements overkill

Coach C on Pendolinos is apparently reserved for the shop clerk and train manager to use. Access to Coach C is believed to only be if you are visiting the shop, it is not meant for passengers to use. Granted, the behaviour of the train manager was inexcusable, there really is no harm in opening...

    Longest line of sight (UK)

Actually wait it was just after Harthill I think. Some sort of service station anyway.

Will catering likely restart anytime soon? I know CrossCountry, Greater Anglia and some others have resumed catering with a static trolley at one end of the train.

    Longest line of sight (UK)

I was on the 900 between Glasgow and Edinburgh last week, and just after leaving Maxim Park near Coatbridge, I could make out Arthur’s Seat in the distance. This was still with about 30/40 miles to go.

There are also no extra Friday night trains out of Glasgow Central for the foreseeable future either. Scotraildriver is correct with the reduced off peak service, it's not much just 2tph reduced on some routes.

    ScotRail services

Was out today and seen a couple of trains at my local. Scotrail were running a mix of 3/4/6/7 carriage trains today. There was no way you would be able to properly distance on a three car train, particularly when it got to Johnstone.

The last Largs train on a weekday (1945) is only a 4 car, it is very difficult to Social Distance on that train. I have a feeling that may have been short formed as most if not all Helensburgh services run as a 6 car throughout the day.

    ScotRail services

Exactly, they can't really promote social distancing if the trains are too busy. Trains shouldn't be sitting about, they can easily hook them together.

Inverclyde is soley 380/385 operation atm. No sign of 318s/320s up there for a while I believe. Paisley Canal can really only justify 1tph off peak. Maybe 2tph in the peak but 1tph is still ideal.
