    ScotRail services

I assume the December timetable changes will sort everything out. It's a shame as the fast Gourock and fast Ayr services have always been very popular with leisure travellers, particularly at weekends. The new timetable is far better than it was before my last train on a weekday being 19:45...

    ScotRail services

Ayr still running as 2tph all stations, with an occasional faster service non stop between Kilwinning and Glasgow.

    Milngavie-Edinburgh service

It also gives Airdrie a fast service to/from Glasgow to save people piling onto the Helensburgh - Edinburgh and Balloch - Airdrie service. I think 3tph for Bathgate will suit up because the line isn't busy enough to warrant 4tph. A 6 car shuttle between Bathgate and Edinburgh compensated with...

    XC services above Newcastle

Off topic but does anyone know when Avanti intend on extending their London - Birmingham - Preston services back up to Glasgow and Edinburgh? These places have lost their slightly faster link to Birmingham.

    Train services to ferry terminals

Ardrossan Harbour tends to have quite a few travelling to Arran on a Saturday morning. (The 08:33 was full and standing the front coach once as it connects with the 09:45 sailing). Sometimes the ferry departs late due to it waiting for the train connection from Glasgow.

    Milngavie-Edinburgh service

I agree with the Milngavie to Edinburgh service being empty. Maybe in peak times the service could run to Milngavie as a fast service as it was before. (Skipping Bathgate - Drumgelloch and Coatbridge - High Street). However, outside of those times maybe run it as a 1tph shuttle from Bathgate -...

    ScotRail services

Yes. I went on the 900 today and it was running every 15 minutes which I personally believe is a bit premature. Only two people including myself got off at Edinburgh. In terms of Strathclyde. Stagecoach and First are really running over Scotrail. The buses are running to later times with the...

    ScotRail services

I think the 3rd August is too far away. Other TOC's have had no issue with getting later services restored with very minimal notice. Scotrail didn't really give a reason for the earlier finish either.

Could we see better use of Kilmarnock line?

The Girvan line is extremely rural and is regarded as a scenic route. To electrify it would take away the appeal of the scenery. I do think electrifying to New Cumnock is a good idea as it allows those areas to get more frequent Glasgow trains.

Could we see better use of Kilmarnock line?

I think the Kilmarnock line should certainly get some form of upgrade. Given throughout the day it's normally very busy, soon the 2 car units won't be enough on that route. Maybe we could see electrification down to New Cumnock to provide a bit of a commuter service down there as it might...

    Stagecoach West Scotland

Rather than cut the X16 thoroughly, it'd be worth maybe running it Kilmarnock - Ayr only. The service is very busy in the mornings as it is a substantially quicker way to get from Kilmarnock to Ayr rather than taking the 4 all the way through Monkton and Prestwick. Maybe on occasion extend it to...

    Longest line of sight (UK)

I also think from the hilly areas of the Ayrshire Coast and Renfrewshire as you move towards Glasgow (Dalry, Beith etc) you can probably get a glimpse of Glasgow City Centre in the distance. I know from the top of the X36 bus when going over the hills I've got a brief glimpse of the airport...

    East Kilbride/Barrhead electrification updates

I can tell you now that will not go down well with people from the intermediate stations. The Kilmarnock services are very busy throughout the day, with the X76 being near enough empty even though it takes near enough the same time. If you were to cut the Kilmarnock service to Barrhead it would...

DfT advise TOCs that full timetable is to be restored on 6 July

Out of all TOC’s, Scotrail have handled this the worst out of any other TOC. - Ending services early without a real reason - When the shops open, they will still actively encourage people to use other methods which simply isn’t viable for many - Telling people to social distance, but not...

DfT advise TOCs that full timetable is to be restored on 6 July

Exactly. The last trains out to the suburbs are all just before 8pm, with the exception of Ayr, East Kilbride and Lanark who have their last trains about 10pm.

    Stagecoach West Scotland

Yes, a lot of people tend to exit the bus at East Kilbride. Not so much between East Kilbride and Hamilton, but there may well be some uproar as I believe thats the only direct link between Lanarkshire and Ayrshire.

DfT advise TOCs that full timetable is to be restored on 6 July

Yeah. I really have no clue why services die out after 8pm here. Considering other TOC's can run to their near normal last train times, Scotrail running to 8pm on the majority of routes is an issue. Some stations end up with lengthy 2 hour gaps at that time in the evening. For example out of...

DfT advise TOCs that full timetable is to be restored on 6 July

Scotrail should really look into running later services on their routes. Right now the vast majority of their services end at about 8pm on most if not all routes. This isn't great particularly for the commuter routes in and around Glasgow. The last train back on my local route is 19:45, which...
