Stagecoach West Scotland - Updates & Discussion

Hi all, I've made this thread because there are some things I want to find out about the current operations of Stagecoach West Scotland, one of the main things being the current state of Ardrossan depot, as well as wondering if any more new buses are due. I've also noticed there are a lot...

    Stagecoach West Scotland

What is the current state of Ardrossan Depot? I've heard it's to be sold off and that it's only temporarily closed. What is actually going to happen to it? It'll be a shame if the depot closes as the site is rather large and seems to be more convenient for the drivers.

would be possible to extend the Whifflet terminator somewhere?

I don't think Shotts warrants the full 4tph, 3tph yes, but nothing more. Remember, getting paths across that flat junction just after Rutherglen will be difficult, particularly if you want to throw 2 other Shotts trains per hour into the mix.

Are Glasgow to Oban services still operating the full route?

Pre COVID the demand for the WHL was very good, with the 0823, 1037, 1223 and 1637 departures being busy. The 08:23 Mallaig portion is also very well loaded, it empties out at Fort William then gets busier again.

Are Glasgow to Oban services still operating the full route?

I do like the idea someone suggested of altering 1Y31 to terminate at Dalmally, with the next leg being 1Z31. It would help with making it clearer to people that they will need to change at Dalmally. Perhaps you could also put something on the departure screens along the lines of: "Passengers...

Are Glasgow to Oban services still operating the full route?

This whole thing about making people deboard the 05:20 service after the majority of their journey to take a bus is silly. Why can’t they attach (if they have one free) a spare unit and use that as extra capacity. Or you could have all the passengers move into the front coach at Dalmally and...

Flood Damage Near Polmont - 12/08/2020

It will most likely be a 2tph service, probably taking up the path of the Dunblane service. So Haymarket, Edinburgh Park and Linlithgow would be the most likely calling point. From then I think it will be a bus to Falkirk Grahamston to connect with trains. 1597849196 For the west side. Scotrail...

Avanti West Coast restores a number of direct links to London as part of its September 7 timetable uplift.

So no 2 hourly Glasgow - Birmingham - Euston service, yet somehow they run the 17:43 from Euston all the way through to Glasgow via Birmingham, wonder why that is.

    Trivia: Most Hostile Bus Routes

Over in West Scotland, it's not a route but a bus station. Kilmarnock Bus Station certainly has some characters lets just say. The 11 from Kilmarnock - Ardrossan also tends to have quite a lot of characters onboard. Drunken people, people out of their face on drugs, aggressive people etc.

    Avanti West Coast rebrand

Have Avanti began rolling out their new uniform? Some of the posts seem to say that they have.

    Coach Lettering in the UK

I think it makes sense as to why Coach U is lettered as such. From experience, Coach U has always been unreserved, maybe the U stands for Unreserved? I also think Coach G on the 11 cars is unreserved, same with Coach C on the 9/11 cars, so that if an 11 car substitutes for a 9 it doesn’t mess...

Your involvement in accidents in different modes of transport?

Car (as passenger as I cannot drive): 0 Bicycle: 0 Plane: 0 Ship: 0 Train: 1 - Not so much an accident but more an incident, person jumped in front of the train I was on at Milliken Park. Tram: 0

How busy have your trains been?

Scotrail services from Largs seem to be very busy, particularly since all the double units are gone. By Johnstone, over half of the seats in the entire train were taken. Not sure how it is at peak times.

Catering on board trains Summer 2020

Scotrail have not announced a date yet for resuming their onboard catering offer. Presumably, the issue is that the majority of their long distance services are trolley service only, with the exclusion of the HST services which have a microbuffet. Maybe they could open the buffet on the HSTs...

Flood Damage Near Polmont - 12/08/2020

Those Edinburgh services do get really bad pathing. 32 minutes from Motherwell to Glasgow is a bit of a joke, really, even the Lanark which is all stops takes 24-28 minutes.

Flood Damage Near Polmont - 12/08/2020

Tomorrow Scotrail are running an hourly shuttle to Falkirk Grahamston from Glasgow Queen Street at XX:15, calling at Croy and Camelon. Presumably this is so they can link up with replacement buses.

Flood Damage Near Polmont - 12/08/2020

If you were doing it from Queen Street, it'd require a diversion via Springburn, then down through Coatbridge, Whifflet and Motherwell. It would take too long.
