Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

You can easily use them at Farringdon. Show it to the TfL staff at the gateline who will just open a gate manually. Of course it's not as easy as a gateline with scanners attached, but it's not like it's impossible.

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

Sorry, I had meant within the Oyster and Contactless areas rather than within the Zones 1-6/Travelcard area. I'll make that clearer.

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

keyGo, the pay-as-you-go system, has always supported the full range of day fares available as far as I know. It will charge a Day Travelcard fare if you take multiple services inside Zones 1-6, and within the wider PAYG area it will match the Contactless/Oyster rate too. It has not been, and...

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

Although, for this particular example, a passenger could use GTR's keyGo system with a Railcard linked to obtain a discount on the Contactless PAYG fares. As long as they're not using EMR. Simple, isn't it?!

    Interrail Passes

The credits are for "high demand" services (Eurostar, TGVs when beyond the cheaper fee tier and all international services, some sleeper services in seats only). Services that don't require credits don't have a limit on the reservations you can make (well, except the fair use policy). I still...

    railway dispute, incorrect info given

Even better when it's the wrong expiry date and CVV code too. With no 3DS. It's incredible.

Off Peak Day Return Thorough fare Underground to a Greater Anglia Destination from Liverpool Street

No, tickets issued to/from "London Underground(/DLR) Zones [...]" are valid to use those portions of the validity at any time of day. When it was permitted to add on the London Underground validity to any ticket (before the TOCs decided that was a good deal, and therefore passengers could not...

    Caledonian Sleeper

I am sure that's still the case, and it's just a quirk of how the trains are set up in the reservations system rather than how it works on the ground.

Police exercising driving law exemptions such as speeding and obeying red lights when in pursuits or escorts?

There's a lot of fantastic examples of this on a Dutch channel, run by a traffic police department: https://www.youtube.com/@VerkeerspolitieDenHaag They film POV videos of some escorts -- typically ambulance escorts for things like emergency blood or organs between hospitals -- and upload them...

I agree with the other members' posts. Ignore the email. Do not reply. Do not engage with any future emails. They may send more emails, threatening further action. If you are worried, please reply to this thread first and not the email. You might want to ask your son about this, because West...

    Caledonian Sleeper

For Caledonian Sleeper, there's not much extra to do than the unique refund terms. The tickets are pretty straightforward, actually. I believe there might be issues with RARS and how the coaches are stored for the sleeper (e.g., the service has more than one coach with the same letter), but...

Mistakenly used Staff Travel Pass to and from Liverpool Street to Ware

This is the thread you are thinking of, I believe: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/tfl-staff-pass-misuse-on-ga.266218/page-2#post-6884246 In that case: The thread also has copies of correspondence which they sent to Greater Anglia, which you may want to review and take some light...

That's great, but I have a strong feeling the Rail Ombudsman will do the exact same! Best of luck.

Ah, the Oval approach! Remove the good value fares, because the tendered system doesn't support it!

    Digital Fraud team - England

My reply will be the same as @Fawkes Cat's. We don't know if they'll pursue it further. As @AlterEgo has also said, they won't be able to prove it was you who travelled with the ticket and received the penalty fare, even if you bought the ticket. I would personally still just keep quiet and...

    West Midlands Railway Festive Fiver

Maybe this is just a good way to silently remove the evening tickets entirely after the Christmas offer ends?
