Is a Basildon → Zones 1-2 ticket valid for a Basildon → West Ham → Waterloo → Vauxhall route?

What does a "London Terminals transfer" even mean? Tickets to London Underground/DLR Zones are generally regarded as valid to any National Rail-Underground/DLR interchange location within the stated zones while on a route to the appropriate London Terminal(s). For a ticket from Basildon to...

LNER - Losses and subsidy increase despite increase in passenger numbers

You're not being very charitable... We know it is at least £691k as per post #38. That was just the cost of just producing the one Eleanor film and not other associated things such as the cost of the puppet, vinyl wraps for trains, photoshoots for other advertising, etc.

    “Operational Incident”

As I understand it, services can be pre-cancelled in TRUST so that the cancellation only gets reported at the time the service is called/activated (which happens automatically 3 hours prior to departure). It's not that the service gets activated and then the FOC decides to cancel it, but rather...

LNER - Losses and subsidy increase despite increase in passenger numbers

A fake Azuma coach was built in Prague and filming was conducted there, with LNER staff being flown out for the shoot. £691,449 spent on that in total. https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/iet_mock_up#incoming-3152463

    GWR upgrade policy

Did you apply a Railcard when searching on BRFares? The upgrades aren't discounted by Railcards, so it'll show no fare. If you just search for Paddington to Cheltenham Spa: https://www.brfares.com/!fares?orig=PAD&dest=CNM&period=20250907 You'll see GWR WEEKEND UPG and GWR WEEKDAY UPG, with the...

Gatwick Express stock re-badged to Southern

Not that I know of. 1764190257 I mean there were explicitly diagrammed workings, but they were at least confined to peak-time services I think.

Gatwick Express stock re-badged to Southern

My understanding is that there is no longer any attempt to keep GX coaches on GX services, nor SN coaches on SN services, and everything inter-works to the extent is is permitted and compatible. It's an incredibly silly practice.

    Are head codes ever visible

Ah, thanks, I had missed that.

    Are head codes ever visible

This was 9M59 on 21 May 2023: And this was 9M60 on 21 Nov 2024: And, you guessed it, 1B49 on 7 Feb this year: I wonder if the TM can choose what it says, and some input the signalling headcode and others input the RSID.

I understand that the RDG-run Interrail site is likely to shut its doors at some point soon.

I agree, that would explain the issue perfectly.

    Trainsplit email re 'Cancellation'

If you take a look at TrainSplit's timetable page for this train (Y25308) which is linked in that email, you'll see that the timetable was edited on 21 November to terminate the train you were booked on at Whitehaven, due to the long-term closure of the line via Corkickle...

How long for did GW use Phil Sayer and Celia Drummond announcements?

I expect someone like @stadler to be best-placed to answer a question like this. I do know that GWR had created some pre-recorded announcements in the last year or so which used the old Ditra 3-tone chime at the start, but that's not Phil Sayer! I highly doubt this.

Forthcoming changes to National Rail Conditions of Travel

I think the existing wording was far too vague. The phrase "are using a route for which your Ticket is not valid" could extend well beyond not following the geographic route on the ticket. I would bet that, instead of thinking of some way to reword this to be more restrictive, they simply...
