    Trainmapper App

Most of the data is compliant with and based on EU-wide specifications/formats. Those permit length to be measured in different units (either mm or feet), but weight should always be metric tonnes. I did have a look through the data before working out how to persist it, and didn't see any...

Passenger train consists as Open Data

The data includes this, but its accuracy is unreliable for most TOCs.

Passenger train consists as Open Data

RTT is already live with the data.

    RealTimeTrains website

I see some allocations for non-KYT TOCs have appeared on the site now, thanks to the new open data feed from Network Rail. I assume they'll almost all be showing by tomorrow, as the data comes in tonight.

    National Routeing Guide update

Which TOC higher-up wanted to pop down for a seaside holiday, I wonder?

    Impossible to buy advertised fare?

Ever since I heard about TfL remotely removing discounts from some oyster cards, I have doubted that adding Railcards online is physically impossible to implement. RDG have had a Railcard validation API available for over a year. This, as I understand it, includes paper Railcard purchases...

London International (CIV)— can a return be used in conjunction with both Eurostar and Stena?

The ticket will almost always bear a Maltese Cross marker, permitting a cross-London transfer. These markers mean the tube gates will open for entry and exit for a single journey. OP's ticket would have opened the gates fine ordinarily, but presumably the magstripe on the ticket either became...

    Impossible to buy advertised fare?

A hot issues bulletin went out about this recently, clarifying that registering online and at the machine are two separate things, and that adding a discount does not require online registration before it can be done.

    Impossible to buy advertised fare?

That sounds like you read about the 60+ Oyster, rather than adding a Senior Railcard to an Oyster card. https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/free-and-discounted-travel/national-railcard-discount

Help Required - No booking Reference LNER

In theory, if the tickets are some for collection, it is possible for a station to check the industry ToD database by Surname instead of a collection reference. Whether staff know they can do this (or if their TIS lets them?) might be another matter.

London International (CIV)— can a return be used in conjunction with both Eurostar and Stena?

The ticket type also covers connecting international rail and boat journeys. There's no restrictions around the concept of "London International (CIV)" itself, so I would see no issue with using this in connection with one of Greater Anglia's Rail & Sail tickets to Netherlands...

Independent instances of split-ticket booking engines

Though nowadays that's likely going to involve signing up to our TrainSplit for Business offering rather than a dedicated whitelabel site. :) I think it's unlikely you'll see any more generic whitelabels like "rail saver" and "splitticketing.com" from us, but helping charities like Railway...

    National Routeing Guide update

Good to know, and also explains how so many changes get made without any PAFs being sent out. :p

    National Routeing Guide update

I'd like to think at least someone from every TOC has access, but I don't know if they all either use that access or all the people that might need access have it. I can only regurgitate what I was told by the helpdesk when I queried about it.

    National Routeing Guide update

Changes are made through a system called Product Management Service (PMS). Some TOCs have direct access to this system, but others get changes made via the managed helpdesk. I'm not sure what level of detail requests get made in, but I know that I have personally written one of the easement...

    LNER customer data loss

Typically, that apology comes after they know exactly what to apologise for. That usually takes a week or two as they trawl through systems to see what was stored on them, and what has evidence of being accessed.

    LNER customer data loss

No, I'm saying your SSD could kick the bucket!

    LNER customer data loss

I'd trust them more than a spreadsheet stored locally on a machine that might suffer from data loss any moment. I used Google's own password manager for years without issue until switching to 1Password (paid) a few months ago.

    RMT industrial action 5th - 12 September 2025

Where staff choose not to strike and attend work, a decision will be made by LUL senior management whether a service can be sustained. This is done in accordance with the usual emergency and contingency plans, and generally isn't just 'vibes'. In some cases it may be deemed that a service still...
