LNER: London Kings Cross to Inverness: no January services?

Thanks for this. Would really prefer the direct service, but your site is bringing up cheaper fares than LNER and other TOCs for alternatives. Hoping for some decent First Class seats as those Azuma ironing boards get uncomfortable around Peterborough! :D Billy

On-train announcement phraseology no longer used

I remember using Amtrak a few years ago and they still shouted "All aboard!!" on the platform. 1702896380 Wait till they find out about antimacassars! 1702896475 That sounds about right - I lived in Wick at the time, and ScotRail were the last "franchise" to go live.

LNER: London Kings Cross to Inverness: no January services?

I was attempting to book a ticket from London to Inverness, and it appears that they are not operating to Inverness at all, in January. Initially I thought it was the specific dates I was trying, but a wider search shows that, in fact all dates in January are unavailable. I then thought it may...

I had no idea, were they told to launch a Wrexham Euston service too?

On-train announcement phraseology no longer used

I remember this well. Before another 40 minutes was added to the journey to Wick. Think it was National Express' idea, who subsequently bought Scottish Citylink who operated Inverness to Wick. I'm not implying any skulduggery here though! They were were then told to sell Citylink.

Landslip at Crewkerne Tunnel - West of England Line closed.

SWR's response has been pretty shocking. I had a customer who simply wanted to use her Axminster - Woking ticket from Dorchester South instead. (There's a direct bus, running normally, between Axminster and Dorchester South) An absolute NO from the SWR Twitter/X team. Will there be a rail...

Overcrowding at St. Pancras (EMR) 03/12/23

The EMR situation at St. Pancras is pretty poor, even on quiet days it feels like they have been given a tiny space, which, given the vastness of the station is weird.

    London's Worst Station

Sydenham Hill is beautifully located but feels really dangerous at night time, with a narrow path through a wood between the station and College Road. These pics are from a few years ago, maybe it's been brightened up.

(TRIVIA) Smallest station with the best service?

I would have hazarded a guess at some of the Cornish stations with regular direct trains to London. Like Redruth, population 14k, with GWR and CrossCountry services to London, Edinburgh etc.

    Worst Tube Line?

I love the Bakerloo Line. It's really bouncy after Queens Park! :D 1687427961 When I lived in Cockfosters, I thought great, a direct tube to Green Park, moments from the office. Pretty quickly discovered that during disruption, which was often, Arnos Grove to Cockfosters would be ditched...
