    Scotrail’s alcohol ban - pointless?

I've been told the 2129 Inverness to Tain is full of revellers drinking, and nothing is enforced. A few years ago the ban was after 9pm (I think) and I was told to quickly drink my wine or it would be taken away. This was on the last train to Wick, which was virtually empty at 9pm. Meanwhile...

    Caledonian Sleeper

Weirdly, on Tuesday I did a dummy booking to see how busy my train was from Inverness (seated (!)), and at around midday it was showing as fully booked. There were about 10 of us in the carriage as we left Inverness and a handful joined during the journey.

Why is rail travel in Cornwall so cheap ?

I know that Devon CC have a fare cap on train tickets within Devon and a few stations across the border in Cornwall, I am sure Cornwall CC do the same.

Fun route Glasgow or Edinburgh to London

Thank you everyone for your answers. Sad to say, I've opted for the seated sleeper to London from Inverness, purely based on price.

    Caledonian Sleeper

I have received my confirmation from Caledonian Sleeper and there is a Seat Frog logo attached, although Caledonian Sleeper doesn't appear on SeatFrog.

    LNER app (and its notifications)

I didn't get any updates on LNER app. Used Real Time Trains and manually going into app (to discover my trains had been cancelled). Notifications are enabled

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

Should have gone into more detail: LNER push the narrative to be "Seat Secure" strongly. They even have this on the app.

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

So I imagine there will be lots of confusion and "reserved" seats left empty if people change their train +/- 70 minutes around their booked train, given LNERs requirement to book a seat on the train you decide to travel on. 1706534868 Also, have jusr checked fares to/from Haymarket where Super...

Fun route Glasgow or Edinburgh to London

Valid route advice: Watton-at-Stone to Burgess Hill via Stevenage

Definitely complain to the TOC. I've had enough of arrogant ticket inspectors. Happened to me ages ago in the days of Gold Cards up Worcester way!

Storm Jocelyn to cause disruption on Tuesday 23 January and Wednesday 24 January

LNER have cancelled today's Edinburgh Inverness train. ScotRail not accepting tickets from other TOCs. Spent a small fortune on a hotel room last night Next time I'm booking Megabus. 1706110942 It appears ScotRail are operating a 1633 to Inverness today, taking 6½ hrs

Because they are operating trains north of Newcastle after 3pm? Like the one I am on now

Storm Jocelyn to cause disruption on Tuesday 23 January and Wednesday 24 January

Weather is weather but some of the communication is really poor. ScotRail say that the network will be closed from 1900hrs, but trains that started their journey before that will continue to run. I am booked on 1200 KGX INV which now terminates in Edinburgh. There are no ScotRail services to...

SWR First Class - what is the point?

I think First Class on the Waterloo Exeter line still has 2+1 seating, but certainly from my neck of the woods, Dorchester South being my nearest station, First Class isn't worth it.

Is it worth mentioning the new kiosks on Far North Line at Scotscalder etc. where boarding passengers now alert the driver electronically, potentially speeding up services?
