Stranraer line engineering works: station and infrastructure works.

Yes - back to my screenshot and that site looks perfect.

Stranraer line engineering works: station and infrastructure works.

What are the reasons for not re-opening the line near to the old Stranraer Town Station? (At Station Street - the line going further into Stranraer seems unusable, requiring level crossings etc.) I have just taken a screenshot from Google Maps and I may have answered my own question as it seems...

First Hampshire & Dorset (Wessex, Dorset & South Somerset)

Dorset feels squeezed between BCP and Hampshire on one side and Devon on the other. Weymouth is our biggest town which does seem to have decent services between Portland - Weymouth - Dorchester and Poundbury. But the rest feels like an annoyance to our major operator, First.

First Hampshire & Dorset (Wessex, Dorset & South Somerset)

£65m bus transformation Dorset Council have made a fairly huge announcement regarding public transport in the area. Given their previous level of engagement it's a bit of a revelation.

Are Paper Bus Timetables still in your area?

WATAG has published a timetable for the X51 and X53 routes. However, I was astounded (in a good way) by Devon Council's effort. Rather than the 19 pages from First Wessex, they have a concise four page timetable. It omits any bus wholly within Dorset (so basically the 0633 and 0734 (Mo-Fr)...

    Ember: Electric coach service

Yes, automatic refund if you are delayed by 30 minutes or more. This was posted in February, I can't remember when this was introduced.

Dunoon or Rothesay .. which one should we visit

Thanks for the update, I'm saddened by this. It was a few years ago but I travelled from London to Wemyss Bay via Glasgow Central, then ferry to Rothesay and bus to Colintraive multiple times. (Bus then continued to Dunoon) I imagine this is to save the bus company the ferry fare?

How timely of Ember to introduce three buses a day from Thurso to Inverness via Castletown!

    Ember: Electric coach service

Is it just my browser or is there a bug in Ember's online booking system? Sometimes it lets me book beyond 14 October, but mainly I get this: (Wick Co-Op to Glasgow btw)

    Trivia: Strangest bus stop names.

Talking of pub names, the CR6 in Bridport still serves a stop called The Boot Inn, although the pub closed years ago, as well as Bradpole The Kings Head, which also closed, albeit more recently. The X51 and other local routes has Radipole: The Famous Old Spa, also a pub, named after a mineral...

Are Paper Bus Timetables still in your area?

Sorry I should have explained - although you have had some replies since! If anyone lives locally or intends to use the service, there is a survey that can be completed online.

Are Paper Bus Timetables still in your area?

First in Dorset have decided not to print a winter timetable for the X51/X53. If you print direct from their website, it's 14 pages (assuming you don't print the basically useless first page) WATAG are printing their own version.

Dunoon or Rothesay .. which one should we visit

I used to live in Dunoon, it's a great little town with some stunning places to visit nearby, like Colintraive, Benmore Gardens and Loch Eck. Rothesay always felt rundown in comparison, although it does have a stunning house (castle?) near the town centre. Bute itself is beautiful. The good...

    Caledonian Sleeper

I saw a video of some trains in China where the seats are basically identical to airline business class seats, wish they'd done something like that. The current seated sleeper seats are awful after a couple of hours. 1789403751 My issue would be having to use the top berth , oh and if they...

    Ember: Electric coach service

Odd how the fare cap works - Glasgow to Fort William is £4 single (still an absolute bargain) but it applies even when no change of vehicle is required. I didn't interpret the fare cap like that.

Getting off a National Express coach early

I have a similar question. Route 035 Poole - Heathrow - Victoria. The passenger wants to get off at Heathrow. NatEx say ticket must be cancelled and a new ticket purchased. I can see why - original return was £23.40, they want £32 for a new single to Heathrow! Has anyone any experience of this?
