Which specific train journey is the most profitable in the UK?

That's a great question! Without researching I assume it is Heathrow Express, incredibly expensive but somehow always appears at the best value service in surveys

    Avanti West Coast Cancellations

This came up on today's Avanti Journey check page, and it reminded me that I've seen this before - always curious as to what exactly happened! 11:47 Birmingham New Street to London Euston due 13:06 will be cancelled. This is due to passengers causing a disturbance on a train earlier today...

Thanks for that! My brain can relax again.

Real Time Trains, The Highland Chieftain and Pitlochry

Is there a reason why Real Time Trains consistently lists the 0755 ex INV as "Not Stopping" at Pitlochry? I was on a train in February which stopped as planned, but RTT still listed it as not stopping. Just curious as to why?

"Be prepared to vacate the seat or purchase a first class ticket"

Probably because they declassify First Class on London metro services so people might assume (on longer routes) it's always declassified.

Why don't East Midlands Trains stop at St Albans?

St. Albans is lovely. Really want to travel on the once a day Euston St Alban's Abbey service

Attitude of neighbouring TOCs to an unreliable one?

I can't remember the TOCs involved as it was years ago but after an awful journey on one to connect with the other the guard said "Don't worry, you're with (TOC) now". Just typing this reminded me one of them was First Great Western when Aliison Forster was in charge EDIT: it was FGW and South...

Why can I no longer get e-tickets on Trainline?

Didn't know that. I am going to try RF ticketing site next but have used Virgin Trains Ticketing (no booking or payment fees even in advance) and their points add up to discounts or a Greggs Steak Bake

Why can I no longer get e-tickets on Trainline?

Doesn't the Trainline charge totally avoidable booking and payment fees?

Why is rail travel in Cornwall so cheap ?

Sorry for the delay in replying. Calling it a fare cap was very inaccurate, my pal who worked at a Devon rail station explained that off peak fares will not exceed the cost of a Devon Day Ranger. So also applies to Day Returns only!

    Scotrail’s alcohol ban - pointless?

I was on LNER last week and there was no mask announcement, so presume you are referring to when it was a requirement and Scotland had different rules

So many announcements, so few people taking them on board

SWR are relentless with their announcements, with the See It Say It Sorted one especially annoying. What they also do is have the guard/conductor announce station stops immediately after the automated one. It's just white noise, although a bit more intrusive 1707754000 I thought the See It...

    Caledonian Sleeper

Had breakfast at the new Spoons at Euston on Wednesday after my seated Sleeper from Inverness and a very sorry bacon roll on board. Was seriously impressed by it, it's actually a beautiful pub. Used to a bar called Secrets, with black curtains. Well I say bar...

I still laugh at this description of a food item... Sausage Wellington £10 Tasty herb flavoured sausage meat wrapped in puff pastry and baked until golden. Served with a spiced bean ragout and Arran mustard. It's a sausage roll with baked beans isn't it?

    Scotrail’s alcohol ban - pointless?

Gretna is still in Scotland though... (Although I get your point!) Maybe some enterprising person will have cruises just outside Scottish jurisdiction!

    Caledonian Sleeper food menu

I have a feeling it might be more regularly than twice a year, but I can't verify this. Regulars would get bored of the menu very quickly otherwise! 1707587587 So this article is from September 2023 and the menu was different on my trip this week.
