    Silly question: Reverse Formation

But why would it change en-route?

    Silly question: Reverse Formation

This is a very silly question (my brain isn't working today!) LNER posted a few weeks an update to the 0755 INV KGX to say that "this train will run in reverse formation from NCL to KGX". The route didn't appear to be different. So what was happening with the train? EDIT: Found an example from...

    New National Rail website

Had a look and it looks nicer, but hope it's not style over substance. Food & Drink page states no F&B on Trans Pennine Express which I am sure is incorrect. Maybe they know something we don't!

Potential Avanti services: is there no chance these will happen now?

Found my ticket, it was £110 return.

Potential Avanti services: is there no chance these will happen now?

Ah the dead hand of the DfT! I remember getting a bargain ticket on W&S in First Class, and the food was excellent on board.

Potential Avanti services: is there no chance these will happen now?

Don't start me on that. Virgin Trains really did not like competition and their launch was a spoiler service. Yet W&S could not serve Virgin Trains stations like Birmingham International despite signalling requiring the train to stop there for 5-10 minutes. Gah!

    Southern on-board supervisor ticket checks

I use Southern a 5/6 times a year. I do Dorchester South to East Croydon via Barnham as the fares are far cheaper than via Clapham Junction. So 10 to 12 single trips. My ticket has been checked on every train from Southampton to/from East Croydon, and sometimes twice.

    Closed/Under Threat Stations Watchlist

Great pic, always mean to take one when I visit. I'm down the road in Bridport, which apparently has the dubious honour of having the longest gap between Beeching's closure announcement and it actually closing, which happened in 1975 1680089306 I think Wolmar hit the nail on the head with his...

Avanti West Coast contract extended for six months

LNER seem to be doing fairly well on East Coast. In fact LNER shame most other operators I have used. Granted it's an Inter City operation but their marketing, food, staff all seem really good. (As I found when I upgraded to F on an INV KGX journey).

    Transport spending by councils

I look across the border to Devon with envy. The council there publishes timetables (the East Devon one is about 96 pages) and have a ticket for about £10 a day for unlimited travel across nearly all bus operators in Devon. Devon Council subsidise a Lyme Regis to Seaton bus (which is mainly...

    National Express Coaches Discussion

Megabus did offer Weymouth to London, via Dorchester. It stopped around 2021 iirc The new service - which seems to be 4 a day from 27 March now - doesn't serve Dorchester. With regards to marketing, I have asked to be a Megabus agent as I work in a tourist information centre. Have heard...

    National Express Coaches Discussion

National Express will be facing new competition at Weymouth Currently they offer two buses a day to London. Megabus return on 27th March with three buses a day to London, via Heathrow; increasing to four a day from 3rd April. Operated by Heathrow based Air-Sym. One of the four buses is...

Worst Rail Routes for fare collection in members' experience?

I travel a few times a year between Axminster and Exeter and have had my ticket checked on every train. I know that's not a good sample of usage!

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

When booking on the LNER, clicking on "Journey Info" tells if it's DELI, DISH or DINE. Although the PDF document is probably an easier to view.

Its DINE through out, although they handed out DISH menus on boarding and quickly changed it.

    Closed/Under Threat Stations Watchlist

I live near Weymouth. They have lifted the rail lines to the quay. Funnily, the signal from the quay is still there, at permanent red. 1674853663 I checked Rail Time Trains and it was operating today

It felt like restaurant quality food. And tasted like it as well.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

It was Dine. Although when I got on the train they issued the Dish menu to my disappointment, but hastily corrected that!
