Smarcard for Glasgow - Worth it for short trip?

My wife and I are having a short (4-day) visit to Glasgow in a few weeks so I've been looking for things to see and do while we are there. We'll be travelling there by train, so will be using public transport to get around the city I see we can apply online for a free Smart card ... is it...

I'll give you a wave when you pass Monkseaton .. I actually live in W/Bay, but Monkseaton is the closest station

Could I get off the train 1 stop earlier

yes thanks .. I think I got the gist of it .. stopping early (Wylam) shouldn't be a problem, but starting late could be, or indeed would be.

Could I get off the train 1 stop earlier

that's great, but my original question was just to make sure I could get off the train early without any problems.. don't really see how, as the station is unmanned .. well, at least that's what I've been told

Could I get off the train 1 stop earlier

Did you mean 'stopping short' ie at Wylam ? You say 'is generally fine' .. would there be a possibility of it 'not being fine' 1676915030 sadly, only 4 travelling, but thanks anyway for your reply

Could I get off the train 1 stop earlier

I am wanting to travel on the Northern Rail service from Newcastle to Prudhoe, but return to Newcastle from Wylam (one stop closer to Newcastle) Fares for Prudhoe are £6 single, but £6.10 for an off-peak return Fares for Wylam are £5 single, but £5.10 for an off-peak return So for my journey...

BRILLIANT BRILLIANT ... many thanks ... was waiting until 10:00 but thought no luck yet Just booked and received my tickets by email .. just 4 minutes before receiving an alert from LNER. I managed to book my hotel too, so all is great:D:D thanks again !

Trainline tickets are available before LNER ... is there a risk in buying ?

I want to book tickets on LNER for the end May, early June but these are not available yet, also not available on RailUK Tickets :( I see today they are available on the Trainline at quite a cheap price. Is there a risk these trains won't run .. or LNER just more cautious I understand there's...

Are Trans Pennine Express reliable ?

Yes, i think I'll give them a miss .. it would be annoying to book a hotel, then find the train was cancelled. Other routes are probably the best idea, via York, Leeds etc, or even Carlise, for a scenic ride

Are Trans Pennine Express reliable ?

Oh dear, maybe I should just get the campervan out and drive there ... no hotel costs also Just a pity my wife prefers the luxury of a hotel and full English breakfast to the cramped VW campervan bed followed by burnt toast

    Edinburgh Tram developments

Thank you for your reply. I see, there's an adult day ticket at £4.50 for travel on the buses and trams (city centre only) which as you say, is available on a Lothian bus, as well as from the tram stop ticket machines. It seems the contactless capping system is only for the buses at this stage...

Are Trans Pennine Express reliable ?

Thank you for your reply No definite dates yet .. but probably leaving Newcastle on a Monday morning at about 10:00, returning on a Thursday, leaving at about 14:30. Service probably better during the week, rather than at weekends I had never heard of that website .. I'll have a look .. thanks...

Are Trans Pennine Express reliable ?

I am thinking about booking a trip to Manchester from Newcastle and note that the service is run by TransPennine Express. I've been at Newcastle station a couple of times over the past few weeks (actually both on a Sunday) and on each occasion, TPX have been operating a replacement bus service...

    Glasgow Subway new stock

What's the best way to buy tickets on the Glasgow Subway. Is there a fare capping system, like in London so I can hop on /off as required. Are the buses included in any fare capping or would i be better off using the Subway only one day and maybe buses only on other days I'll be visiting...

    Edinburgh Tram developments

I understand the trams are operated by the same company which runs the buses. Does that mean I can hop on /off the buses and/or the trams and pay a single-capped fare, using my UK contactless card ... like in London I'll be visiting Edinburgh with my wife for a few days in March
