Many thanks for your reply. Yes, I noticed that website in an earlier comment and had a quick look ... very good indeed Will need to investigate further

Yes, I could do that ... I had never been on a NR train until a few weeks ago I got some cheap Northern Rail tickets in the sale .. Day trips to Seaham, Hartlepool, Hexham and Prudhoe/Wylam (4 at £3) and Carlisle return for £6, from Newcastle .. so by the beginning of April I'll have had 5...

Never heard about this scheme .. might investigate. £10 for a day's travel (plus the cost of two newspapers) Trouble is, being based near Newcastle I don't have any loop I can go on .. t would have to be Carlisle - Settle - Leeds and back again Anyway .. that'll give me a task .. investigate...

Still probably worth getting a Two Together card .. you just need one At only £30 for a year, it could well provide a saving of more than the £30 cost. My wife and I got one last year and saved much more than the £20 we paid for the card (in a sale) on a return trip to London in November, will...

Thank you for the replies ... I'll sit at my computer at 09:59 .. the early bird gets the worm .. or at least the cheap fares

I am looking to book a trip on LNER at the end of May or early June, but the tickets are not available yet. I have set an alert. but was just wondering how often the tickets are released .. is it weekly, monthly or whatever ? On the LNER website is says .. tickets are available up to 20th May

On one website it states 'screenshots are not allowed' as far as on train verification goes

Many thanks .. I thought that was the case, just wanted to make sure

I see Trainpal is offering cheaper digital railcards. I fancy getting the Senior Card for 3 years (£46-20) .. it's my birthday next week, so thought it would be a decent present from my 3 kids .. better than more socks Just checking .. can the railcard just be stored on the Trainpal app, then...

Many thanks .. I saw on an earlier comment on this thread (by AlterEgo) that you click on i from the basket .. works fine !

Can you book individual seats using this ? I know you can specify your preferences (window seat, table etc) but on LNER you can actual pick a seat number. Just wondering .. My wife and I are travelling to Glasgow from Newcastle at the end of May for which seats can not be booked yet .. but i...

Yes, I wouldn't mind that. My wife and I are travelling to / from Edinburgh from Newcastle at the end of March on LNER and to Glasgow at the end of May ( again probably LNER) so we'll give Seatfrog a go I suppose it's easier if there's only a single traveller .. we'll have to download the app...

Thanks .. I might give it a go after all .. what have I to lose .. n'out really !

I was looking on the LNER website and they mention Seatfrog .. something I had never heard of. The idea sounds good, but I looked on the Google Play store, before downloading and see two recent reviews, both only giving it 1 star. There are more 1-star reviews than 5-star ones, with 2,3 and...

Oh dear ... it is a Monday if I travel on the WCML to Glasgow ... it would be a Thursday if I choose to do the return journey via this route. Of course, it depends on when tickets become available for end of May travel. If LNER are available I can book my hotel and part of the journey, but if...

Do you think Avanti will still be running the service after their current contract runs out in a couple of months? I was hoping to travel on the WCML at the end of May, but no tickets are available yet

Thanks .. my wife and I have a combined age of 125, or at least will have in a coupole of weeks when I am 65 .. so we'll make it. To be fair I cycle and am pretty fit (cough ! cough!) and my wife is not too bad either:D:D

Maybe I could come back from Glasgow on the WCML, rather than going ... there might be a longer time gap. Thanks for the great reply "Watershed" and MCR too .. I see both very experienced members here 1675189189 Sorry.. I missed the other replies .. thank you

Just playing about regarding tickets from Newcastle to Glasgow via Carlisle using the RailUK ticket site I added Carlisle in order to avoid the ECML being shown, but it is only giving me a 10-minute window to change trains, which i feel is a wee bit too short. I would imagine there are stacks...

many thanks !
