I have been looking through the uksteaminfo website and there isn't many steam tours down to the Sussex coast this year at all, and I don't think there was many in years gone by either  I was very suprised to see this as I would have thought places like Brighton and Eastbourne would be...
a few questions about the Bluebell Railway:
I often photograph at Sheffield Park station and trackside near Horsted Keynes, but can anybody recommend any other good locations to photograph from, and once the East Grinstead extention is built any good locations along there?
I also missed...
can anyone please tell me of any steam tours or freight workings that pass through Haywards Heath station? I Have recently taken an interest in freight workings especcially some of the older loco's but I don't mind the modern scene, before I wasn't too keen but have decided to expand my range of...
We clearly saw the effects of the snow on electric trains, so should we build new steam locos like that of Tornado and haul the trains that way? Diesel is no match on steam but is better than electric as you can go anywhere without hassel so maybe an electro/steam train could work?
Take a look...
Anybody know of any future steam tours within the Sussex area this year or next? This excludes the Bluebell Railway and Lavender Line as they are private railways.
Thanks!
Hi all!
Seems these are the plans for the Bluebell Railway Ardingly extension:

Much talk and speculation as to how the Hanson plant would affect the extension but appears this is how it will be overcome. Seems a good idea! :)
Does anyone know the plans for the December 2010 timetable change for both passenger and freight around the Sussex region?
I've heard there will be quite a few alterations to both but if anyone can specify exactly what will happen that would be great!
Thanks :)
Dave
Looks pretty much set in stone now that with the collapse of the GWML electrification scheme, that the Class 319's will be staying on the Thameslink route (Bedford - Brighton) and the second phase of the rolling stock project (NXEMU Next Generation Trains) will now not be going ahead. However...
Does anyone remember the Wessex 31's that used to run on Friday's from Cardiff - Brighton - Bristol? They also used to run on the Weymouth line too. We are talking 2003 - 2006 if I can recall?
Who thinks FGW should bring them back? Anyone want to have a go at turning a 31 into FGW local lines...
Does anyone living in the Wessex region remember the small siding near Southampton tunnel? I believe this was only ever used by track machines to stable but very rare to see one in there. Over time it began to look rather decrepit and by about 2009 looked pretty much disused and was overgrown...
Should Bachmann and Hornby consider focusing their efforts on Mendip wagon stock? There seems to be a servere lack of this stock available, the most being the now discontinued & rather scarce RMC JHA's, as well as the rather unrealistic Hornby ARC PTA. The oppertional area of the Mendip/Hanson...
I sometimes see ground position lights/shunt signals in the most ridiculous places such as sidings that are no longer connected to the mainline or disused overgrown railway yards. Why do Network Rail waste money putting these signals in these places when they will never be used and will be...
