Network Rail are renewing a bridge along the Netley line as part of the Southampton area upgrade, including making Southampton tunnel bigger. Also the Angerstein - Wool sand has been diverted via Netley before so should have no problem. Perhaps this is why they are renewing the bridge?

The wagons will be Heavy Haul HIA's!

The Twiglet Zone.
Oh well the clagmonsters will be happy then, especially with those lovely steep climbs either side of Swanwick, the climb out from Bursledon to Netley & from Bitterne to Sholing.

There has also been a lot of bridge work on the arun valley line this summer. At least 2 bridges have been completely renewed and a third has had a major renovation. I wouldnt be surprised if the proposed train could be routed via Horsham.

There are still weight and speed restrictions up the Arun Valley line near Pulborough and Billinghurst, Network Rail have pretty much banned heavy locos up the line except class 73's for these reasons.

I saw 66624 at Crawley New Yard yesterday and I notice on locoscene that she was spotted later in the day at Kettering South. Any ideas on what working she may have been on?

Nice to see Freightliner at Crawley but does that mean EWS have gone?
