In Rugby on the viaduct over Butlers Leap at the end of the turning triangle for Colas works was a Colas 70 coupled to some sort of track machine.
I couldn't see the number on the 70 due to the shrubbery on the embankment but it was an unusual sight as in my 4 years living in Rugby on...
Currently on the green former motorail wagons in fresh Colas colours in Rugby top and tailed with Colas 47727 Rebecca. I would include a photo but no idea how to! It looks very smart!
I can't believe that I'm the only one intensely frustrated by them.
The RG is a nightmare to locate stuff that has changed hands during the year and the P5 books hardly acknowledge the different operators.
Ideally a P5 version with the details of each class and sub-class (once is...
Every other year I tend to buy the latest edition of either the "Rail Guide" or "Locomotives and Rolling stock" since my in-laws regularly send me an Amazon voucher for my birthday and this more than covered the cost.
I didn't buy one last year but this year I am staggered to discover that...
On Saturday I went from Rugby to Lichfield on 350118. For my return journey I had the misfortune to ride on the same emu. The misfortune being the state of the lavatories!
I boarded at Rugby with my two young boys and it wasn't long before one of them decided they needed the loo so I took them...
Whilst driving my car I just passed a 37 on Mill Street in Rugby outside the main entrance to the Colas Rail facility. It was looking very smart in what looked like freshly applied Regional Railways livery but with no number!
Does anyone on here know what 37 it is ans also what it was doing...
Apart from the obvious question of what the hell is the point of them given that you still need drivers my question is that, with the proposed re-opening of the varsity railway line between Oxford and Cambridge, will the busway be demolished?
A couple of months ago i started uploading some of my photos onto flickr. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to find them on google once I had uploaded them. However, I thought it might take a while to register them onto the search engine.
Since then, and a couple if months on, they are...
As an occasional user of this route I am astounded that there us only 1tph. When I'm on board the train is frequently full - often with standing room only especially on Saturdays.
I'm sure LM must have considered a greater frequency. Does anyone know why it remains so poor?
Some thoughts that have bugged me over the years about things I wish I'd done, been to etc. but which now can never be repeated.
So here's some things that I regret:
being far too selective with my first camera in the 80s. I took the rail blue era for granted now wishing I'd been far more...
Passed through Crewe today from south on the WCML and onto the Chester line.
Passing what I'd always assumed was CE at the south east of Crewe I saw 86632 coming onto the main line and a 90 (presumably 050) right at the back out towards the stoke line. This depot has always looked sparsely...
Not sure if this is the right section for asking about depot open days (admin please advise) but does anyone know any forthcoming dates for open days.
It's been about 20 years since I last went to one. Do they still have them and where do I find out about them as they don't seem to be in...
recently picked up a old video (yes that old!!!) on the class 50s and the the narrator kept commenting on the problems they had with flashover damage on the LSW route. However, it never explains what flashover damage actually was/is!
Can someone please enlighten me?
I'm rather bewildered by most stock sector pools but what on earth is a fleet management unit? I'm guessing it means "stored" but if so why not just say so?
:?
Going to run out of classes soon surely - especially for locomotives and in particular diesels.
Is anything new in the pipeline or are we all plodding on aimlessly into oblivion...!??!?
There is civil engineering work to the north of Rugby station between the station and DBSchenker's yard. It is adjacent to the southbound tracks around the back of Rugby college. They are currently using piledrivers to hammer in concrete foundation posts.
Does anyone know what this is and...
I'm sure this subject has been done to death on here in the past but why is it that manufacturers (Alstom in this instance) and TOCs seem incapable of producing a product where the windows and seats actually match. Stand up Grand Central HST stock for a notable exception!
The problem with...
Hi all,
I'm about to go to Yorkshire next week for expressed purpose of taking some train photographs from locations that I have not previously visited - well not for a very long time anyway!
My plan is to buy a "Freedom of the North East 4 in 8" Rover ticket and was wondering what stations...
