I have noticed a few season ticket holders join at ungated station and wait at the platform for about 20 seconds before the train arrives (talk about timing!)
They don't have time to tap in, but once they get to the terminus they tap out on their oyster.
Is this the same as having a paper...
I bought an annual travel card zone 1-5 from chiltern and want to travel on weekends on their network. I was told I did not need to buy a ticket but show them my card but it's on oyster.
I have a new job in Bermondsey and have the option of
1) Leaving from Northolt Park and take Chiltern line, Bakerloo to Baker street and then Jubilee to Bermondsey
2) Met / Chiltern line from Harrow on the Hill
3) Chiltern Line from Sudbury Hill Harrow
4) Central Line from Northolt...
RPI to an important job and i guess they suffer abuse on a daily basis.
Its not a pleasant job, and I don't think they gain satisfaction fining people, but they have a right not to be abused.
Sometimes when the general public gives you so much flack its human nature to become defensive and...
Trying to match the trains times at paddington and then the bus etc will take longer than the pic, and more expensive as well.
I guess that's why there are so many experts on this forums.
Just wish that the piccadilly line was as fast as the victoria, central and jubilee lines in terms of...
I did not realise that it would only cost £3.90 from hayes and Harlington with YP discount. I have already saved on East Coast with extension to Zone 6 , basically the travel card aspect is only a bit over £3
TFL peak fares are extortionate on oyster PAYG
Can I buy Hayes and Harlington to...
Well the best fare would be from PBO to Zone 1256.
I love the print @ home feature but am guessing that the Travelcard aspect would be a standard ticket.
Does anyone know the average journey time from Kings cross to Paddington change onto Heathrow connect then the 140 bus from hayes to...
I need to get from Kings cross mainline to Heathrow airport during peak hours.
I have oyster PAYG and YP railcard
The cheapest way but most congested way would be taking the picadilly line, but that would be nearly an hour and I would be standing for most part.
Heathrow express is too...
Just a quick question,
in the age of digital media and smart phones, why does east coast insist on paper print outs of the tickets.
I tried to see if the gates would open by scanning my QR code from my Samsung Galaxy and it worked.
Yes smartphones can die but paper tickets can be lost as...
I took the 21:53 from Platform 9 at Kings cross.
No announcement from the driver of the stopping pattern.
I overheard someone saying that the 22:23 was going to be leaving and was supposed to be quicker.
got to Finsbury Park, and no announcements.
Train stopped at the normal slow calling...
Won't the flat junction create a bottleneck?
how come a tunnel was not built?
Another issue is that the class 700 stock is not capable of 125mph or even 110mph, how are journey's every going to become quicker?
As you head towards Kings cross there is a tunnel on the right, which I keep forgetting the name of with a pair of tracks.
I am guessing that this will connect St Pancras to the ECML.
Will this be a flat junction or will the southbound dive under the current track bed to merge in.
On...
I arrived at Peterborough at 9.30pm yesterday.
I went to the fast-ticket machine at the side and an error came up with unable to complete transaction. I decided to video the situation.
Time was ticking on so went to the next one.
Same thing.
The travel centre was closed, I had attempted...
Someone made a comment about the voltages and that LU have some at - something and the other at plus something.
If the potential difference is 750, what difference does it make if they change the inner rail to 0 volts and the outer to 750 since it still makes 750v.
On an EMT train, the train manger was doing a routine ticket check.
One pax had his ticket in the mouth before handing it over.
The guard said that he would not touch his ticket due to saliva, and told the pax to cross the ticket out and write the date using that pax's pen.
Very amusing.
This always intrigues me when foreign nationals don't pay for their fares and the railway is deprived of revenue.
How is this chased up if they have returned to their country of origin.
How about asylum seekers / illegal immigrants who abscond once they are detained.
I have noticed that the S stock despite increase in line speed has really poor acceleration. The 96 stock on the jubilee line and even central line stock has better acceleration.
Coupled with LU mantra of all stations at all times makes for very long journeys.
Why did they not think of...
Watchdog did a piece the other day on Wifi on Virgin, East Coast, and cross country.
I was surprised that the results were so poor. I have never had the need to use wifi as I have unlimited data but found that on the ECML bar the tunnels and the odd patches I get a 3g connection which on 02...
