I saw the above loco crawling through Birmingham Moor St this morning, presumably on its way to Worcester and Hereford where according to ITV Central it will be hauling the Royal Train tomorrow. Would be great if there were some photographers around to take some shots.
An example of their fare structure.
Trainline.com: B'ham - Aberystwyth cost £20 + £1 insurance + £3.50 credit card charge.
Arriva same trip - £20 no extra charges.
Why pay 22% more for the same trip. I guess someone has to pay for those stupid ads.
Looks like this one is going ahead as they have confirmed 2 x West Coast Class 37's.
Lets hope this one runs smoothly. I'll be looking forward to receiving the tickets early next week.
Having just had a disappointment with the cancellation of the Severn Forth trip organsided by the Railway Touring Company, due to lack of interest, is this the normal way operators work? If so how can you tell if you are going or not? With the thought of cancellation right up to the night before...
I'm looking at travelling on the Caledonian sleeper 1st class in July. The cheapest fare is £202. Can anyone suggest where to look for a cheaper deal? Last year my mate got it for half that price via the Scotrail sight.
Having applied to Virgin for a position through their online recruiting service, how long does it take for them to reply? Do they usually let you know via the post or by email? Perhaps if you're unsuccessful at the application process they don't bother?
Any answers?
Recently XC were recruiting for a position. I had a letter rejecting my application saying that on this occasion they decided to recruit from an internal pool. However I could ask for feedback.
My question is simple. What is the point of advertising for a position if they are going to recruit...
A few years ago I applied for a position on Central trains as it was known then as a Train Manager. I was selected for the test but failed it because I couldn't join the dots up quickly enough during that particular part of the test.
My back ground is that I had 30 years in Cabin Services...
So when HS2 is launched we will have 2 ways to travel and from Birmingham (3 if you include Chiltern) Who ever operates the franchise v HS2, what sort of fare differential can we expect? I'm sure there will be a hell of a premium to pay for travelling to Brum in 40 mins as opposed to 1 hour...
Now WSMR have gone and apart from the sleepers what loco hauled trains are left now? The only one I can think of is the Fyfe Circle and that will finish soon no doubt.
I've just been looking at the timetable for the above tour next year. Looks good, but it seems to take only 10 mins from Stourbridge jnct to Stafford in both directions. What form of movtive power are they using for such a trip...
It's been reported on another site that Tornado failed on the final leg of the tour from Edinburgh to Euston sighting bad coal as the problem.
Anyone got any further info?
Euronews reported that a German train came the tunnel yesterday. As all the UK media were reporting on the miners being rescued I switched over and saw the ticker tape on Euronews. There was nothing else.
Any details anyone?
Is the pretendolino working hard these days? I haven't heard much about it lately? Is it still operating Brum schedules and a Preston trip on Friday's?
We saw him at Glasgow yesterday with a class 67 adorned in his feathers and plaque, but where is he today? Anyone got photos of the Royal train on this trip?
