Hi All,
I thought that with Advances, there was a ticket quota at each price level, and once they've been sold, the price rises to the next tier. So the earlier you book, the cheaper the fare
However, is this actually the case? Looking ahead for my regular commute, the ticket prices are the...
Hi,
My wife and I are travelling to Glasgow, using Northern Delay Repay complimentary tickets to get from Bingley to Carlisle, then Advances on Avanti for the rest of the trip.
If we are late into Carlisle, and miss the connection, are we likely to get more hassle than with a more conventional...

So Scotland has to make do with more English cast-offs.
But it does sound like they will be better than new when they enter service.
Hi All,
A quick question - can anyone advise whether Northern Duo tickets are available from Northern ticket machines, or do they have to be bought online?
TIA.
Timetables and allocations are now available on the ELR website.

I received the following piece of gen via email:
"We're delighted to announce that 48305 LMS 8F will be our first Steam Gala Guest from the Great Central Railway!"
The gala is being held 20th to 23rd March.
Could be used for a hypothetical Hooton to Manchester via Ellesmere Port service.
(Northern taking over Hooton to Ellesmere Port has been suggested on another thread, btw.)
Checking out the Rovers section on a Northern TVM at Leeds today, and while Merseytravel Saveaway was offered, there was no sign of a Daysaver on the list of options available.
Does anyone know why? Is this deliberate or an oversight?
Looks like I will have to wait until I reach the Merseyrail...
I see that 5MT 44932 has been working at the KWVR during the Beer & Music Festival.
Does anyone know when it arrived, how long it will be staying, and if it will be rostered again?
Thanks.
(Not that I'm desperate to scratch it, or anything! )
Hi All,
I am planning on using a Northern complimentary return ticket to visit Liverpool. I was wondering whether travel via Wigan or Preston then Wigan would be valid.
If anyone who understands the routing guide can let me know, I would be most grateful.
Thank you!
Hello,
I have an Anytime Day Single from Woolwich Arsenal to Belvedere.
Can anyone advise whether this is valid from Woolwich Elizabeth Line rather than Woolwich Arsenal?
Thanks!
Hi All,
So yesterday morning my booked train was cancelled (I had an Advance for this), so I caught the previous service. This train arrived 19 minutes late, but this was only 13 minutes after the booked arrival time of the train I was due to catch.
So the question is, am I entitled to Delay...

It would be nice if we could have a regular fast service to/from Leeds. Calling at Wakefield only and doing it in 2 hours.
The KWVR has announced two visiting locomotives for the gala in March:
4079 Pendennis Castle
6990 Witherslack Hall
Eight of the home fleet also due to be in action.
Full details at:

Looking at Real Time Trains this morning I see that 331009 is working Airedale services and 331110 is on its way to Blackpool.
Have any more crossed the Pennines yet?
It occurred to me that the rail journey from Ardwick to Salford Central isn't very far, but requires two changes. Pic and then Vic or Salford Crescent.
Over here in West Yorkshire, Baildon to Burley Park is the best I can think of. Change at Shipley and Leeds.
In London, Cannon Street to...
