I see that 5MT 44932 has been working at the KWVR during the Beer & Music Festival.

Does anyone know when it arrived, how long it will be staying, and if it will be rostered again?

Thanks.

(Not that I'm desperate to scratch it, or anything! )

I believe they have swapped it with 45212 which is air braked and can work on the main line with for example the Northern Belle, as yesterday. So maybe the swap will be until Christmas?

Thank you. I shall keep my eye on the loco roster.

Can attest it was definitely working at the festival - 10 second exposure of it working the 23:10 departure from Oxenhope on Saturday evening. You’ll be undoubtedly glad to know I didn’t scratch it though @xotGD :D

Speaking of KWVR residents, Jubilee Bahamas is working a Vintage Trains mainline railtour Derby-Stratford Upon Avon on the 27th, £60 in STD.

A very nice photo. Especially considering you took it at the end of an evening at the beer festival!

Also pleased with it considering that end of the platform is absolutely pitch black and to the naked eye, the engine isn’t that visible. Saturday was helped with the moon being very nicely positioned to provide some light which is why I think the long exposure did a decent job!

I had no excuse for a decent pic really - I was working one of the bars up to close so I was one of the sober ones

44932 is due to work the next two weekends. So I might have to pop down on Sunday...

Well today is Sunday, I did pop down to the KWVR, and I did have a round trip behind 44932.

A few other cranks had a similar idea.

It is quite loud.

The KWVR own 45212 which is on long-term hire to Rileys. As part of the deal, KWVR get use of one of Riley's Black 5s - usually 5212 but sometimes 4871 or 5407 - over winter each year (roughly October - March).

This year, with West Coast needing air-braked locos for their mk2 stock and 34067 Tangmere being out of action, Rileys have arranged for 44932, which is only vacuum braked, to spend the winter at KWVR so that dual-braked 45212 can cover Christmas railtour work.

An arrangement which suits everyone!
