    Service improvement at Northampton

But considering the benefits delivered to large towns and cities like Milton Keynes, Northampton, the major urban extension proposed at Long Buckby, Rugby, and Coventry, possibly worth it. I'm not saying it'll all be done, but Northampton is one of the largest places in this country without an...

    Service improvement at Northampton

Hi all. I'm Harry Burr - Chief Executive at Sustainable Transport Midlands. I'm also currently leading Daventry Parkway Project which is a campaign to reopen the railway station in Weedon Bec to serve Daventry post-HS2. You may've read about it in Modern Railways or BBC News. I'm working on a...

    Southeastern Maidstone - Blackfriars 2022.

Normally when I travel between Dover Priory and Whitstable (which I do quite often), I get on a Highspeed service marked as "Terminating at Ramsgate", but then the same physical train becomes a London St Pancras Intl service again but starts at Ramsgate going via Chatham and joining back onto...

Will we ever see an Open Access Operator on the West Coast Mainline?.

It seems Northampton is being forgotten in this thread - one of the largest towns in the UK and one of the largest settlements without an actual Intercity rail link... I get the situation on slow lines of the WCML, but to serve 215,000 people, I think the small speed reduction is worth it.

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Hi all, I've created a website that allows you to report when a station has received new signage. It's very simple and easy to use. I'm going to add some that I've seen, but if someone would like to go and find proof of stations that have got new signage, that would be great. Some people have...

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

I've seen these too. I have some contacts at Avanti West Coast - I'll see what they have to say. The last time I was at Coventry with AWC, they told me they had to take their old branded signs down and put new ones in, in the old British Rail branding (red lines on top and bottom) because...

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Does anyone have an idea of when other elements of signage will be introduced/what they will look like? E.g "Waiting room" or "Way out" for smaller stations?

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Garsdale also has the new signage. In person, it looks a lot nicer than it does in photos.

    Trivia: Station with most TOCs?

Rugby isn't in Northamptonshire, and under the current timetable, Northampton isn't served by Avanti West Coast, so technically the station in Northants with the most operators calling is also the least used, Kings Sutton (Chiltern Railways and Great Western Railway, along with XC passing...

    Kenilworth station signage

That does make sense. They could've changed the signage since the photo I initially attached was taken.

    Kenilworth station signage

As the trains are operated by West Midlands Railway like most in the West Midlands region, I would've expected the signage at the station to follow the design of signage at other WMR stations (attached example)

    Kenilworth station signage

Thought I'd start a quick discussion about Kenilworth's semi-new station. I saw this image (attached) of the stations signage, and it looks quite Network Rail-esc even though the station is managed by West Midlands Trains. Any guesses as to why?

    CrossCountry 2?

Hi all, I had an idea a few weeks ago about the technicalities of creating new CrossCountry services to better connect London and Kent with the Midlands and North of England. One of these ideas was a route between Leicester and Folkestone Central, calling at Kettering, Luton, London St Pancras...

Different sounding train at Weedon this evening (WCML)

It could have been a 325, it just didn't sound too .jch like it.

Different sounding train at Weedon this evening (WCML)

Just wanted to post this thread out of personal interest. I live right next to the West Coast Main Line in Weedon Bec, and just heard a very different sounding train come past, certainly wasn't a 350, 390, 221 or 325, or any type of freight for that matter. Sounded electric to me, actually. I...

Avanti West Coast services calling at Northampton (Post HS2)

I'm aware Northampton is a town, but that is the case for many large towns e.g Reading and Milton Keynes, and look at their ridiculously frequent Intercity services (especially Reading.) Northampton is even referred to as a city in many Government documents :) 1603821295 They are referring to...

Avanti West Coast services calling at Northampton (Post HS2)

For someone who lives a 10 minute drive from Northampton, I'm not a massive fan (the high street is slowing dying, and just a few days ago) 1603719755 You could say Northampton is a city, and hasn't even got a proper Intercity service though o_O

Avanti West Coast services calling at Northampton (Post HS2)

You have a point, but it would be more convenient to get a direct service.

Avanti West Coast services calling at Northampton (Post HS2)

But most people want to get out as far as possible from Northampton, and LNWR don't operate any services to Southern Scotland e.g Edinburgh, Glasgow.

Avanti West Coast services calling at Northampton (Post HS2)

Is there any chance after HS2, Avanti West Coast could run a more frequent service on the Northampton Loop, calling at Northampton? Currently they only run Southbound services early in the morning and late in the evening on occasions.
