Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

I didn't show the Duty Pass to any other member of staff all day, other than at New Street so I could get through the gate line.

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

Well, that's what I've requested the body-worn camera footage for. Just in case I made a mistake in my quotation of the incident.

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

It's just card - no plastic or anything (although that's what I expected) Once I showed them my duty pass, they told me they "didn't believe me", and once I told them I was conscious about missing my train, they made the statement I vaguely quoted. Afterwards, I showed them my BBC News Article...

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

Just took a look at it - it actually doesn't include adult or child! It's sort of laid out like this: Class of travel (standard, sadly :D) Name Valid from Valid to Issued by Unique identification code

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

I was walking around the station, and shortly afterwards, I went to platform two to wait for my train. They approached me when I was walking back to platform 2 (was on platform 1 at the time) I wonder whether they even knew I was a child initially. My duty pass is made out to an "Adult", and...

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Coventry has some old-style signage. Avanti West Coast changed it briefly in early-2021 but got in trouble as the (legacy) station is listed - now it's back to RA1.

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

None - I wasn't issued it as an employee of a TOC.

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

Of course. I do understand how it can sound dodgy to some (especially RPOs) but if I wasn't issued the pass then there would be some meetings that I just wouldn't be able to make it to. Fares are expensive :D (just to clarify, I do still pay a full child fare if I'm travelling for personal...

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

As a gesture of goodwill, bearing in mind that I'm 15 and haven't got an income, I was issued a duty pass for work-related travel (e.g. meetings). It does confuse some guards, but this is the first time that someone who works for the railway has actually delayed my travel as a result. (edited...

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

No worries. I was a little agitated on my train to New Street though, I must admit :D

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

They were in EMR uniform (just with police-looking vests on as you'd expect) That's an interesting question - definitely something I'll ask the right person at some point. I don't think so. I've seen RPOs on Southeastern with them, but EMR must've not rolled them out. I wasn't necessarily...

Should revenue officers be subject to restrictions regarding their questioning of passengers

That would be a good policy for TOCs to adopt. I expect there's many fare-paying passengers that missed their trains because of revenue protection checks.

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

Luckily I have quite a good connection with the MD of West Midlands Trains, which happens to be owned by Abellio too. No wonder young people can be anxious about using the railway. I was a bit worried about whether I was being overdramatic, or if RPOs are actually meant to be like that to...

Revenue protection officers: How much attitude do you expect?

I was approached by two EMR revenue protection officers at Derby this morning, who asked to see my ticket. I showed them my single child ticket valid to the Birmingham Stations Group. They asked me how I got to Derby, and I told them I came from Stoke-on-Trent. They asked to see my ticket from...

Trivia: Settlements without a station where the two nearest stations are on different lines

Would we count the Northampton Loop and WCML fast lines via Weedon as separate lines? If so, Rugby and Long Buckby are similar distances from Daventry as the crow flies.

Alternative signage in place of TOC signage (logos)

I'm 99% sure the Travel South Yorkshire logo is meant to be next to the Northern logo, not on top of it.

Alternative signage in place of TOC signage (logos)

It's just strange to see it in place of the Northern logo.

Services with no intermediate stops due to the fact that there are no intermediate stations.

This is true - I'd be interested to know 1. what the purpose of running those is, and 2. whether they are OLE-powered or diesel.
