Woking - Basingstoke (near Hook) landslip (15/01/23)

The revised timetable seems to be mostly a success according to RTT, most services are running through albeit with a few minutes delay. I might take a trip from Basingstoke to Woking and back and video the slue section.

How much has through running pushed up Elizabeth Line Ridership?

Last week I needed to get from Reading to Tottenham Court Road, the ability to just use the same train from Reading never ever came into the question. Took a fast train to Paddington and changed. Same on the way back.

My point was, usually during weekend engineering works, SWR usually operates a RRB service, why not this weekend?

Generally Barton Mill sidings are being used as short time parking. At the moment an Exeter serve (which was 30 minutes late) is just parked at P3 and will leave there to return to Exeter.

Woking - Basingstoke (near Hook) landslip (15/01/23)

Just watched via diagram, 2L33 (Woking - Basingstoke) do its thing. So it arrives at Farnborough on the DS and stops at P2. It then leaves towards Baskinstoke and is switched immediately to the DF and it stops. Presumably the driver then walks through the train to the other end. It then move...

I decided to go from Basingstoke into London via Reading, as my GWR was just about leave I saw a SWR on its way to Waterloo. I counted only a handful of passengers on board. My train to Reading was quite full.

Woking - Basingstoke (near Hook) landslip (15/01/23)

Bugger. I'm planning to travel from Basingstoke to Waterloo on Monday (and also Friday), I haven't done this journey for a couple of months! Looks like I might be going via Reading. If I have to do that I might as well go to Paddington, as it's quicker.

    Help with Single Justice Procedure

Fair enough, my experience was mostly from the motoring side of things. However too be able to attempt to get a "deal" from the TOC prosecutor, does that mean the SJPN has to proceed to an actual court date?

    Help with Single Justice Procedure

If the process has moved to the SJPN timeframe it usually too late to be getting a settlement with the TOC.

I thought trains never departed early?

So I was waiting at Basingstoke platform 3 yesterday for the 17:35 to London Waterloo, a train arrived at 17:25 which I first assumed must be a different train but the departure board was saying the 17:35 was due next. Sure enough it was my train and this made be wonder how it made up so much...

    Closest unvisited railway line

Although I live near Reading I can't ever recall going west from the station (except for the mile or so to get to the Reading - Basingstoke line).

Please help - likelihood of going to court— QUICK UPDATE.

If you had limited data, wouldn't you have connected to the SWR WiFi anyway. It can be a bit flakey but should be good enough.

First class tickets, but no first class!

RTT says it was a pair of 158's and that first and standard class were available.

Trivia: Significant gaps in mobile coverage (and wifi) on the rail network.

One of the reasons I have a regular SIM with one provider and an eSIM with another.
