A good point. However I want to say it included the SE as separate services, so 16 carriages arriving and 16 departing, so 32 in total. I can’t recall which thread it was in.
I want to say that I read on here that station operators where chosen on who carries more carriages through (I.e. more pax). So, using Hastings as an example, SE run 2tph, both 8 carriages, so 16 carriages per hour. SN run 3tph, and run 8 carriages to Victoria, 3 to Ashford and 4 to Brighton, so...
Yeh, I think the mess bit referred to is keeping the white /1’s and /3’s off GatEx. Without getting into that conversation, I do think the bare minimum should be to keep all GatEx trains as the red ones. Except extreme ‘it’s snowing and this is literally the only train we can put out’ type scenario.
No one signs via Battle permanently that I can confirm.
Don’t think they will at Ashford. Coming off the Marshlink I think the layout will push you through P1 or P2 to join the SEML.
I agree. And I believe it’s slowly rolling out. Even though the course is a simple conversion, it still requires driver release etc so takes time. I believe it’s all the coastal/mainline depots getting sorted first. Barnham for example was only Link 1 who signed them, and with 387’s now...
The only thing that can cause a problem is that not all depots/links sign 387s. That can be one reason certain things are allocated certain ways. Though that’s certainly not stopped a 387 turning up to a driver that doesn’t sign them…
3771/3772/3774 are all used as a common pool. Unless a /2 series is being put on the West London for its dual voltage capability. 3773 have their own diagrams however both can sub in for each other. I’ve seen 3774’s appear on Seafords vice a /3, I've seen four coach 377’s join a /3 to make a...
The blockade is for Bo Peep Tunnel. So nothing can run through. As such, the nightly Eastbourne - Selhurst diesel run will instead be Ashford - Selhurst via the SEML to Tonbridge and then via Redhill and up to East Croydon as usual.
Southern will be running Hastings - Ashford shuttles while...
Aside from the fact that 4tph (two East Grinstead and two Reigate) to Victoria is not enough for East Croydon, many of the mainline services (Portsmouth, Eastbourne etc) change crew at East Croydon as it’s a crew break location, so it would cause a massive change up in terms of diagrams and not...
A nice idea but I think unenforceable. People will cotton on they stop there and use them. Plus they’ll pull into the same platform at Clapham Junction where red express trains operate Southern service and now two tph are technically invalid. Just adds more confusion.
Very helpful, thank you. I intend to complete this oddity. Don’t think it covers any new track for me but I like the notion of being able to do it all in one go.
Yes, and unfortunately I have plans and am unable to make it. And I see things like this and go ‘phooey, if only I got myself organised’ haha. Hence my reason for opening this thread.
Thank you, I’ll digest that properly later. Much appreciated.
It’s still very handy though. Thank you @jfollows, I still have many curves and junctions to clear so it’s useful.
If anyone does no one that matches my original query, I’d be super grateful!
Hey all.
Is there a decent website where I can see planned diversions? I’d like to do stuff like Hull Trains diverting to St P, LNER via Carlisle etc, but being based in the south these just require a touch of planning in case I have to get up early etc.
Cheers
Yah, it’s always made me chuckle as being awfully unhelpful. I’ve also never seen Hastings trains diverted to Victoria vice Charing Cross (though clearly they have as people have explained upthread), so I found it even more unhelpful. At least diversions have happened so maybe it’s occasionally...
Ah I know the sign. I’ve also found it a touch confusing for the unknowing. It’s essentially meant to be a sort of ‘SouthEastern this way and Southern that way’ type sign. However no one seemed to clock that the SouthEastern services that go to East Sussex don’t go from Victoria and all East...
I didn’t say the driver had been at fault. I said ‘if a driver had been at fault’. Plenty of things happen, as you say have done so in your career, that need downloads to be done to confirm the driver wasn’t at fault. Depending on the severity of the incident in question, a unit may need to be...
