There are people that sign both 377’s and 700’s, but all the ones I know of are of the trainer/instructor grade and so using them to help in times like this is easier said then done.
I’d be very surprised to know 700’s have gone down via Epsom and Dorking with drivers that have recently ‘gone...
In theory yes, but you’d need to make sure 700’s are cleared for the route. As they operate down many 377 cleared routes (East Grinstead, the Brighton Mainline, plus they previously went to Littlehampton via the West Coastway, used to divert via Lewes and have visited Eastbourne during testing)...
Nah, you’re right to go Gatwick over Three Bridges. Three Bridges has 6tph non stop each way, giving 12 in total.
I’d also add Polegate, Falmer, Bexhill, St Leonards Warrior Square, Hastings, Horsham, Crawley, Havant, Chichester and Barnham.
Yeh I agree with the bit on London Midland. I did like the livery, but I thought the really smart bit came with their black station signage. Very modern, very clean. I’d happily see them take some inspiration from that.
Off peak is as follows:
- The Victoria - Ore passes through non stop and then stops on its way out (XX23 of Eastbourne) and same on its return to London.
- The Brighton - Ore stops *from* Brighton to Eastbourne then heads out fast to Bexhill (XX11 off Eastbourne). It then stops when returning...
There’s nothing to stop the first Seaford of the day coming from Brighton in service as opposed to ECS. The last one of the day does the same, however the ECS move back to Brighton can run via Wivelsfield so that might put pay to that.
I have no idea about the 222’s but I endured Clapham - Exeter and return over the Bank Holiday weekend without any working air con. I overheard the guard saying the air con on the diesel fleet suffers in the heat. No idea if that’s a diesel unit issue (which might explain why the 222’s are...
It’s for route retention to keep competency on the Marine turn back. They’re both booked Brighton turns however they’re regularly re-allocated to keep both Eastbourne and Brighton drivers compliant.
Everything to and from Seaford (apart from emergencies and ad hoc plans for engineering) is too...
Hi all,
Very quick one. I have a Raynes Park - Liverpool Stations off peak return as I’m off having an adventure. I was planning to go to Liverpool, clear some lines and then return to Liverpool to head back. Plans have now changed and I need to be back slightly earlier, so my intention is to...
It could be anything. Yes, they might have failed to call but there could be all sorts of reasons control/signallers have instructed them to miss the stop. If it was very short notice then it’s probably wiser to tell the driver before the platform staff!
I don’t know about the 807 stock, but...
Ignoring the fact it is indeed an evacuation point, what could you honestly do with it? Especially as anything would have to cause minimal disruption to the running of Thameslink services while it was being constructed.
I guess the only thing with even the slightest bit of common sense would...
There’s always a reason. Maybe the St Germans and Bridgwater stop could only be accommodated by cutting the Par stop.
As for the Warrington one (not my neck of the woods so I might be completely wrong) but is there a diversionary/chord that isn’t shown on the maps (like an avoiding line) so...
I forget the exact time, but circa 2013/2014, there was a morning peak that ran fast from Benfleet. I always liked that one as they generally got a fast run and it wasn’t held on cautionary aspects much at all.
Seems very well intentioned but people would have to ‘know’ what a Turbo does. I.e. does the Turbo have a specific set up for universal access and so it would benefit people to know where to find one.
That said, it doesn’t mean it’ll run on a service, as I know they interchange with 158s etc.
The newly returned, much trumpeted locally Eastbourne - London Bridge and the existing Littlehampton - London Bridge (I think it’s the via Worthing, don’t know about the Bognor - London Bridge via Littlehampton and Horsham) run fast through Gatwick.
