Planned Diversions

Hey all.

Is there a decent website where I can see planned diversions? I’d like to do stuff like Hull Trains diverting to St P, LNER via Carlisle etc, but being based in the south these just require a touch of planning in case I have to get up early etc.

The Branchline Society has for many years published "Passenger Services over Unusual Lines" which lists timetabled services over unusual routes. It only shows such services which are in the timetable at the start of the timetable period; diversions such as the ones @NSE is referring to are shown elsewhere (Realtime Trains, for example). It's a useful resource even though it doesn't answer the original question.

I'm not sure PSUL covers the sorts of diversions that are being referenced here? For instance this years Carlisle diversions aren't in there!

For sure, it covers planned diversions which are timetabled early on, and a lot of these mentioned aren’t in the timetable (yet).

I guess I'm being dense because I can't see the Carlisle diversions and they're happening this weekend with tickets on sale!

Maybe I should have said “weren’t in the working timetable at the start if the year when the annual PSUL was compiled” although that’s a lot more fluid than it used to be.

It doesn't, because they don't cover lines that are not in normal passenger use which is the purpose of PSUL.

PSUL gets updated throughout the year and has a ‘Clitheroe-Hellifield’ section where you might expect WCML’s S&C diversions to get a mention.

But Clitheroe to Hellifield is not in daily passenger use, whereas Carlisle to Newcastle is.

If you want a weekly listing of planned diversions and other engineering work, I recommend "Gensheet", at https://www.gensheet.co.uk/
The "weekend" page (https://www.gensheet.co.uk/weekend.txt) is usually updated on Thursday or Friday each week, to cover the Saturday - Friday week immediately following - e.g. this week's update should appear on Friday 12th, to cover the Saturday 13th - Friday 19th period.
The site also has a summary of "rare routes" by GB timetable number. This overlaps with PSUL - there might not be a full listing of trains for a particular route, but there's often more information on how find trains using a particular route, e.g. from searching RTT.

Arrive at DON at 11.04. Kings Cross to York. Departure to Newcastle then Carlisle diversion at 11.11

Can anyone please advise the timetabled Platforms for arrival / departures for these services.
(Are the WT 's for this route available to the public anywhere please ?

In this case, the 11:04 arrival from King's Cross (1N81) is scheduled on platform 4; the 11:11 to Inverness (1W10) is schedule on platform 8. This is a cross-platform connection.

That diversion happens for a few weekends every year.

Avanti West Coast are diverting between Crewe and Chester via Sandbach, Middlewich and Northwich west curve on Saturday and Sunday 15th and 16th November due to engineering work.
