As a student living in Wembley, I fancied a swim. It wasn't late, but being winter it was pitch black. Easiest pool to get to was near Harrow and Wealdstone station. Got off the train, left the station, turned round, went back in the station and took the first train out of there haha. It wasn't...
I agree with TheNorthern that work will almost always come out on top. Ones like Stratford are prime examples. Plenty of leisure of course, but people who work there will also be using it.
Yeah I agree. I've not been on the line to Lowestoft, but I'm assuming we couldn't flip it the other way and have an 47 hauled 8 carriage train running the service to satisfy the London end of the service. ;)
There was one a day from Kensington Olympia to Upminster. Sometime later on in the evening. I think it's still running since the Olympia shuttle was reduced
What is the point though? Honestly? Surely if the paths are there then SWT would snap them up straight away. It just adds another operator with a 'route:Not SWT' ticket causing more ticket confusion. There's already two direct operators to London and a third alternative route via XC/GWR and...
Though hardly badly served, I'd say places like Harold Wood and Brentwood do better on Sundays when the Southend trains stop all day. That's a couple of quicker services to London throughout the day
Yeah maybe it's the Londoner in me but I saw £2.95 and thought bargain. That said, Virgin charge £3.50 for a large can of Magners onboard. When we did a Cheshire Ranger pub crawl, it was a pretty good way of sneaking in some extra rounds on the go ;)
I've only been on one when doing a Cheshire Day Ranger, but I was quite impressed with them. I think a 4/5 variant would have been perfect for lots of not quite Voyager XC routes but something that needs more than a 170.
She said she was thinking of Euston, but its been pointed out that 9 and 10 there don't match up either haha. That said, it is a huge draw for tourists, and I did like what someone said about a Steam service up to Watford Film Studios. I think that would make money, but the operational railway...
I've long been of the opinion it's all going to go down the Kermit spectacularly when it goes wrong. But you do raise a good point about Finsbury Park. It's bad enough when Arsenal have played and that's for a shorter amount of time and with less passengers than during the peaks
I'd love to see it stay also, I like the long routes. However I've only used it in the short bursts that make the dft want to break it up! I've done Liverpool-Manchester, Manchester-Sheffield, Grantham-Peterborough and Peterborough-Ely, not too much left to complete
I've said it on here before, and I'll say it again, I have no time for people that moan about children making noise. If the parents do bugger all, fair enough, but if a parent is trying to satisfy a baby and it isn't working, there's not much more the parent can do. And I have no issue if the...
It used to be the same for Cambridge but by two minutes. If you let the XX:00 to Birmingham go, you'd get there two minutes quicker by getting the XX:15 to London and then going via Euston. It may not be the same now as it got retimed to be at XX:01 so it may have gained those two minutes up...
I plan on doing it one day. I don't find Voyagers as god awful as everyone makes out. My longest non-sleeper trip so far is the 6/7 hours from Bakersfield to Emeryville and my Longest sleeper was somewhere north of Hue to Hanoi in Vietnam. Though that will eclipsed as I've just booked onto the...
You're quite lucky with SE as both the Slade Green and Grove Park/Hither Green siding/depot complexes are within Travelcard/Oyster boundary if you fancy a little trip to peek in and try and sight some that aren't out and about.
