In Fowler's defence, it can't be any worse than Southend. I had an ex down there and we thought we'd pop out for a drink in the town. Lots and lots of flesh on show. Not long after we discovered it was A level results night. Saw some very questionable outfits on c2c that night haha!
The Stansted Express are also advertised on the main board as not stopping at Tottenham Hale, however I always used it to go back to Tottenham. Interestingly, they did have Tottenham advertised on the platform indicators and on the side of the train. Sounds like that isn't as officially set...
Haha that did make me laugh. I really a hope a guard comes along and does the whole "Sir, we've received complaints so I'm just gonna have to take this", only to whip away the Playboy and reveal Modern Railways to everyone
As long as its not out loud, who's it bothering? I've watched Jackass a fair few times on my iPad. And once a load of drunks next to me thought it was the best thing ever. So I don't particularly care haha
I don't have them to hand, but aim for the for slow Peterborough and Cambridge services. They operate some of the 'faster' slow services at rush hour. Such as the skip stop ones to Welwyn
I hate it when people moan about kids crying, despite the parents really looking after them. Yes, it's annoying when the parents ignore them, but when the parents are trying really hard to pacify, particular parents travelling on their own, then I have no issue with it. Babies cry. You did it, I...
If you can find a cheap advance or offer to get to London, I'd recommend that. Especially if you could hotel it one night. With a Travel Card you could spend an Hour or so at any of Clapham Junction, Stratford, Finsbury Park, East Croydon and all the termini to name but a few. All these stations...
A Glasgow - London Terminals ticket, Route: Any Permitted will be fine for a start. I believe, any service that travels between the two points of your destination (in this case Glasgow and London Terminals) is valid, despite if it takes a detour via Birmingham.
Shame it looked a bit scrappy, guess thats down to the individual maintenance I suppose. I've only been on Meridians three times, so I'm not that well experienced on them, but I seem to recall I thought they were ok.
Too many people on here sit with their rose tinted specs, moping after MK3's. I'm not saying as enthusiasts we shouldn't fondly remember the old stock we loved so much that has now gone.
But, the railways have a purpose.
The Pendo is modern stock designed to tilt to lower journey times...
Good Shout. I regularly use the line through Tooting and forgot all about that one. Yes, there is one a day from Streatham Hill to London Bridge via Tulse Hill, evening peak I think? I could just be making that up. But it does run. And AFAIK the Beckenham Junction has a couple of triains. Having...
Interesting it shows in the timetable. Yeah I seemed to recall reading somewhere it was investigated but not ever done. Out of pure interest how much work would have to be done so that the turbos could reach Baker Street? It would be funny to see everyone expecting an eight carriage long S8 and...
As I was browsing Wikipedia you do, I discovered this (describing Chiltern's Parly services):
Now as far I know this is rubbish, and no Turbo's go anywhere near Baker Street. But it did get me thinking, did it ever happen historically? back in the steam days, or early diesel days, did the...
Nah, thats not the point of the thread. The two stations can actually be miles apart. As long as they are consecutive on one line. i.e. you can board at station A and then there is no stop at the next set of platforms down the line.
There are many cases where trains leave station A and then...
