My Grandad was on the railway for 44 years, driving for the most of it and he never had a fatality. Very lucky I guess. I've seen plenty of dead animals on the tracks at work, not so nice seeing dogs and cats when you know they were someone's pet.

Yeah, it was earlier today. Not heard about Kettering but it specifies the incident was around Loughborough, so could be the incident at Sileby.

Anyone know what was causing delays of up to 50 minutes on the up and down at Loughborough? The only reason I've found is that it was due to a 'problem under investigation'. Thanks

In the interest of settling a disagreement, do train drivers have a driving licence, like a car driving licence, that they are able to get penalty points on for speeding etc?

There's an episode of Ashes to Ashes that shows the railway and the signals at a gantry have TPWS TSS loops. Like you say, still a great show!
