    I wish...

My Grandad was on the railway for 44 years, driving for the most of it and he never had a fatality. Very lucky I guess. I've seen plenty of dead animals on the tracks at work, not so nice seeing dogs and cats when you know they were someone's pet.

Network Rail Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme 2012

Sorry for the late reply Obviously moving away is difficult at times but you'll make new friends and everyone is in the same position so it's not too bad. Not too much of a workload in the first year, it's mostly based on classroom learning and in the workshop. You don't learn a lot railway...

    Loughborough Delays

Yeah, it was earlier today. Not heard about Kettering but it specifies the incident was around Loughborough, so could be the incident at Sileby.

    Loughborough Delays

Anyone know what was causing delays of up to 50 minutes on the up and down at Loughborough? The only reason I've found is that it was due to a 'problem under investigation'. Thanks

    Train 'Driving Licence'

In the interest of settling a disagreement, do train drivers have a driving licence, like a car driving licence, that they are able to get penalty points on for speeding etc?

Level Crossing Incident - Finningley (nr Doncaster) 4th December

Even just a white light waved vigorously can be used as signal to stop a train.

Level Crossing Incident - Finningley (nr Doncaster) 4th December

Just what my S&T instructor told me yesterday. Don't hold me to it! Obviously new barriers have been installed but apparently no new crossings opened.

    Earth Free Signalling Circuits

I got it from GK/RC0706 Signalling and Operational Telecommunications Design: Technical Guidance http://www.rgsonline.co.uk/Railway_Group_Standards/Control%20Command%20and%20Signalling/Codes%20of%20Practice/GKRC0706%20Iss%201.pdf I just found that from google, don't know if there is a...

    Earth Free Signalling Circuits

Thanks for that. Does anyone happen to know how an Earth Leakage Detector Works? I know it's function and that it is latched, just not how it actually works.

Wrong Train On TV's New Tricks

There's an episode of Ashes to Ashes that shows the railway and the signals at a gantry have TPWS TSS loops. Like you say, still a great show!

    Earth Free Signalling Circuits

Hello I'm trying to find out why signalling circuits are required to be earth free and how double cutting achieves this. I know that earth leakage can cause the false operation of equipment etc... just need some detail. Thanks

Ex TOC staff wearing their HVV still...bad idea?

Even just having my hi vis rucksack is enough to get a passing nod during a ticket inspection. I usually tend to put my HVV on as the train is pulling in to the station so I can head straight down the AWR. I don't tend to wear it whilst travelling as I just get bombarded with questions from...

Skyfall - 007 is back !! [Spoiler Warning!]

I was looking at the new 50th anniversary boxset earlier. It just says on the box that Skyfall will be released in 2013 and there is an empty space in the boxset so you can add it in later.
