They are under pressure but I'm not sure if it is the same as the steam pressure. They can wear around the fixings causing them to break. The glass casing is there for protection if it did break but it also protects the sight glass from damage.

Perhaps two operators should work the same route and be in direct competition so people could have a choice in that manner.

I've just seen some new Underground stock off Platform 6 at Derby. There were two class 20 locos at each end and also a barrier wagon at each end. Why does it need four locos and what is the purpose of the barrier wagons?
